BACKGROUND: A practice standard in sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping in breast cancer is intradermal injection of technetium-99m sulfur colloid (Tc-99m), resulting in significant patient discomfort and pain. OBJECTIVE: To examine whether the intraoperative combined injection technique is feasible in locating the sentinel node(s) of the ovary.
METHODS/MATERIALS: In 16 patients with high-risk uterine cancer and normal postmenopausal ovaries, technetium isotope and blue dye were injected in the right or left ovary during laparotomy, respectively. During the operation, the pelvic and para-aortic lymphatic areas were searched, and the number, method of detection, and location(s) of the hot and/or blue node(s) were recorded.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate whether the intradermal injection of radiocolloids would improve the identification rate of sentinel nodes over the subdermal injection in breast cancer patients.
METHODS: Sentinel node biopsy was performed in T2 breast cancer patients with clinically negative nodes, using subdermal or intradermal injection of radioisotopes with the peritumoral dye injection. This report describes the case of a 57-year-old man who developed squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) on his right thumb 10 years after a traumatic injury. The lesion, initially misdiagnosed as osteomyelitis, persisted despite antibiotic treatment.
