In 12 cases of lethal acrodermatitis (LAD), four sampling techniques (brush, swab, scrape and adhesive tape strip) were used to study the distribution of yeasts in various body sites and these results were compared with those from five cases of atopic dermatitis and those of 10 normal dogs. Ketotifen is an orally active prophylactic agent for the management of bronchial asthma and allergic disorders. Dupilumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody approved for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP), asthma, atopic dermatitis, eosinophilic esophagitis, and prurigo nodularis. The most common adverse reactions from dupilumab use are temporary injection site reactions and ocular surface reactions; however, a variety of both acute and delayed cutaneous reactions have also been described. We present a case of delayed hyperpigmented injection site reactions following chronic dupilumab use.

Tacrolimus ointment 0.1 percent is a well-established topical therapy for treating atopic dermatitis. Efficacy and safety have been described in several trials. Here, we present a patient with rapid onset of extensive varicella zoster infection in tacrolimus-treated skin: a side effect that has only occasionally been reported. Early recognition is important because rapid treatment for herpes zoster may lead to less frequent post-herpetic neuralgia and serious complications.

Down syndrome is associated with an increased incidence of cutaneous manifestations such as atopic dermatitis, alopecia areata, elastosis perforans serpiginosa, syringomas, and skin infections. We describe 3 patients with Down syndrome: an 8-year-old boy with alopecia areata, a 17-year-old boy with crusted scabies, and a 39-year-old woman with a cutaneous collagen vascular disease-like disorder. We also review cutaneous signs of this syndrome.

Eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) is a chronic T2-inflammatory disease and can be figuratively referred to as atopic dermatitis of the oesophagus. It is an immune-mediated disease caused by food allergens and is histologically defined by eosinophilic infiltration and clinically characterised by symptoms of oesophageal dysfunction. In addition to reducing the currently still considerable diagnostic latency, the focus is on prioritising existing and new treatment options with the aim of ensuring effective patient care with improved quality of life in the long term.

The article highlights different educational and practice gaps in infectious diseases as they pertain to dermatology. These gaps include the use of antibiotics in relation to atopic dermatitis and acne vulgaris, treatment of skin and soft tissue infection, and diagnosis and treatment of onychomycosis. In addition, practice gaps related to use of imiquimod for molluscum contagiosum, risk of infections related to immunosuppressive medications and rates of vaccination, and the use of bedside diagnostics for diagnosing common infections were discussed.

Some autoimmune and allergic diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, etc.) are accompanied with disturbances of the natural production of hormone melatonin by pineal gland and peripheral tissues. The administration of melatonin to animals and humans with such pathologies demonstrated showed a protective effect. It is proposed to carry out additional investigations of the possibility of using melatonin for the treatment of autoimmune disorders, after which it can be introduced into clinical practice.
