Essential components of tumor follow-up in prostate cancer patients are considered to be the determination of PSA in combination with digital rectal examination, and abdominal together with transurethral ultrasonography. Depending upon the symptoms presenting, additional specialist urological examinations, such as urine flow measurement and cystoscopy may be indicated. The follow-up should be carried out every three months in the first postoperative year, every 6 months in the following years, and annually thereafter.

This preliminary study describes a case of a male patient who developed gynaecomastia and sexual difficulties whilst taking risperidone for chronic paranoid schizophrenia. Laboratory tests showed raised prolactin levels and depressed testosterone levels which were reversed on cessation of medication. A small study was subsequently conducted on male psychotic patients to compare the prolactogenic effects of risperidone (n=14) with traditional antipsychotic medication (n=15). The results showed a greater but non-significant prolactogenic effect of risperidone.

We reviewed the results of microsurgical penile revascularization, with or without a combined procedure to correct cavernosal venous leakage, in 50 consecutive patients with vasculogenic impotence. All patients underwent an extensive preoperative evaluation, including dynamic infusion cavernosography and cavernosometry, and selective penile arteriography. Impotence of vascular origin may be due to a defect of the arterial blood supply, a cavernous venous leak or a combination of the two phenomena. A technique is described for concomitant study of both arterial and venous penile blood flow during tumescence. Dual-isotope acquisition is started after labeling red cells in vivo with 99mTc. Xenon-133 in saline is then injected into the corpus cavernosum followed with vasoactive drugs to induce an erection. The resulting xenon and technetium time-activity curves are inputs for a one-compartment model.
