OBJECTIVE: To find a new way to predict the risk of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG).
MATERIAL AND METHODS: All the participants received endoscopy and histological examination as well as a standard questionnaire. Multivariate analysis was performed by logistic regression to build the CAG risk model. The accuracy was evaluated by 1418 subjects recruited from six medical centers. 63 subjects received another endoscopy after 1-year follow-up and divided into three groups according to the comparison of the histological results (improved, no change and worse).

OBJECTIVE: A number of organic conditions may mimic the symptoms of an eating disorder, however, gastric outlet obstruction mimicking anorexia nervosa has rarely been reported.
METHOD: We report the case of a 51-year-old female admitted to an eating disorders unit with an initial diagnosis of anorexia nervosa.
RESULTS: The patient's upper gastrointestinal symptoms and weight loss were found to be secondary to gastric outlet obstruction from a gastric adenocarcinoma. Coincidental psychosocial stressors and past psychiatric history, among other factors, had confounded the diagnosis.

The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of gastric mucosal injury induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed on 100 RA patients treated with NSAIDs. Migration, distal malposition or fracture of self-expanding metallic biliary or esophageal stents rarely occur but may lead to stent dysfunction, mucosal trauma secondary to impaction or friction on the digestive wall. We report our experience of using argon plasma to endoscopically cut three metallic biliary and esophageal self-expanding stents to restore permeability or to treat impaction of the stent after migration, malposition or fracture.

Gastric mucosal biopsies of 77 dyspeptic patients whose endoscopic features were suggestive of cancer and 56 patients with uncomplicated duodenal ulcer (DU) were subjected to histopathological analysis. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to compare and determine the efficiency and safety of two newly introduced endoscopic antireflux procedures in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
METHODS: In a prospective, randomized trial, endoluminal gastroplasty (EndoCinch) was compared with polymer injection (Enteryx) employing 51 consecutive patients dependent on proton pump inhibitor therapy. Follow-up evaluation included drug consumption, symptoms, quality-of-life scoring, endoscopy, pH monitoring, manometry, and documentation of adverse events.
