Primary breast lymphoma(PBL) is a rare and unique type of lymphoma. Female patients are the majority, but its pathogenesis is not clear, and the estrogen may be related with the pathoganesis. Women who have breast implants have more chance to be suffered. The painless breast masses are the most common clinical manifestations, which is similar to breast cancer. Surgical resection of the mass and core needle biopsy are helpful for the diagnosis. The author analyzes the incidence of skin lymphomas and the manifestations of this condition in the patients treated in the dermatologic center of Rostov-on-Don in 1979-1987. There were 14 patients with primary reticulosis of the skin, 11 ones with mycosis fungoides, 1 with reticulosarcomatosis, 2 with lympholeukemia, and 16 with psoriasis en plaques. In necropsies of 165 patients with malignant haemoblastoses, infiltrates in the pituitary were found in 38 cases (23%). The most frequent occurrence was found in lymphoblastic leucosis (33.3%) and in non-Hodgkin lymphomas (29%). Hypophyseal manifestations were found in 21% for myoblastic leucosis and in 5.5% in case of Hodgkin lymphomas. Feulgen-DNA cytophotometry was carried out in skin imprint preparations of patients with mycosis fungoides, reticulum-cell sarcoma, lymphomatoid papulosis and Sézary's syndrome. These patients proved to have aneuploid and polyploid DNA histograms. In tumour stage of mycosis fungoides a more bimodal distribution of the DNA values was found. Of 79 cases of suspected malignant reticulosis of the skin, 32 showed an abnormal DNA histogram with 5 percent or more tetraploid and hypertetraploid cells.
