Shingrix is a recombinant adjuvant subunit vaccine. The vaccine is approved in Germany for prevention of zoster manifestation and postherpetic neuralgia in adults aged ≥60 years. In the case of bullous skin lesions after vaccination with Shingrix a zoster disease should be considered. Unexpected side effects associated with the vaccination should be reported to the Drug Commission of the German Medical Association.

A Russian test kit for detecting IgG-antibodies to individual antigens of Rubella virus by immunoblotting (Western Blot) was designed. The new test kit is intended for confirmation of positive screening results and for differentiation of stages of infection. It has sensitivity and specificity not conceding one of its analogues, the «Anti-Rubella virus (IgG) WESTERNBLOT» («EUROIMMUN AG», Germany).

In Germany about 400 children are diagnosed of having a brain tumour each year. About half of them are located in the supratentorial region. Despite the fact, that brain tumours are the most common solid tumour in childhood, they are very heterogeneous, regarding clinical symptoms, pathology, treatment and prognosis. Imaging studies play an important role for diagnosis and follow-up.

Species specific diseases, e.g. idiopathic mucinosis of the Chinese Shar Pei are reported by use of 31 clinical cases and 140 biopsy samples. Idiopathic mucinosis is one of the most frequent diseases of this increasing breed in Germany, too. The disease is diagnosed by use of histologic examination of skin biopsies. Therapy is performed by application of corticosteroids and symptomatic treatment.

Diseases of the skin related to the use of swimming pools do not appear very often in medical reports. In this review of such diseases we designate changes in the skin and hair as being infectious, toxic or allergic in origin. Particular attention is given to allergenic additives in the water. There is no indication that public swimming pools in the Federal Republic of Germany present any danger to the skin.
