We uncover the electronic origin of hidden interfacial doping in monolayer MoS2 single-crystal wafers grown on sapphire by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) and establish a transfer-free top-gate device platform. Cellular electron cryo-tomography (cryoET) produces high-resolution three-dimensional images of subcellular structures in a near-native frozen-hydrated state. The structure and ultrastructure of the pineal gland of the degu or trumpet-tailed rat (Octodon degus), a rodent inhabiting tropical-equatorial areas, was examined under light and electron microscopy. On the basis of its form, size, and location, the pineal gland of the degu is classified as a proximal or "A" type. Muscle involvement in progressive diaphyseal dysplasia was evaluated in five children, of whom four were members of one family. Age range was 2 to 10 years 9 months, and mean age was 5.5 years. Evaluation included serum enzymes, electromyography, and muscle biopsy examined by light and electron microscopy. Serum enzymes were usually noncontributory. Electromyography revealed "myopathic pattern" in four of the five patients. Muscle biopsy specimens were taken from three of the five children, including two patients from one family, of whom one had normal electromyography, and one sporadic case.

Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic protozoal disease affecting more than a billion people worldwide. The shortfalls of the current treatment options necessitate the development of non-toxic and well-tolerated, efficient alternatives especially against the cyst form. The current study was undertaken to investigate, for the first time, the potential potency of miltefosine against Toxoplasma gondii infection in acute and chronic experimental toxoplasmosis. Results showed that there is no evidence of anti-parasitic activity of miltefosine against T. gondii tachyzoites in acute experimental toxoplasmosis.
