BACKGROUND: Synchronous ovarian/appendiceal mucinous neoplasms sometimes occur in the absence of clinical pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), which raises a question about whether the 2 tumors could be independent.
METHODS: We identified 11 cases of synchronous ovarian/appendiceal mucinous neoplasms without PMP and subclassified them into groups 1 and 2 based on the presence or absence of microscopic peritoneal/ovarian surface mucin deposits. Primary cervical lymphoma is rare, with less than 60 cases reported in the English literature, including a few cases of synchronous cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) with cervical lymphoma. Ovarian granulosa cell tumour (GCT) is a rare malignancy, which has been linked to both infertility and infertility treatment with ovulation inducers. The reproductive features were analysed of 146 women with GCT diagnosed between 1956 and 1996. INTRODUCTION: The authors report a case of neurologic manifestations revealing Richter's syndrome in chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
EXEGESIS: Cranial nerve palsies were the initial manifestation of the disease. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging were normal. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis with alkaline phosphatase-antialkaline phosphatase revealed the existence of a large-cell lymphoma.
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical aspects of this unusual localization of Richter's syndrome are reviewed.
