A Delphi Study to Develop a Core Outcome Set for Capturing and Measuring Nurse Well-Being.

BACKGROUND: Poor nurse well-being is a significant concern, adversely affecting patient care quality and satisfaction and contributing to poor job satisfaction, increased sickness absence and workforce retention issues. There are calls for evidence-based policies and interventions to address poor nurse well-being, but no consensus exists on which outcomes should be captured to assess nurse well-being. We used a salutogenic and consensus approach to develop a Core Outcome Set (COS) for nurse well-being. METHODS: A Delphi methodology was employed. Participants were recruited from two stakeholde

Role of Sense of Coherence in Mediating the Relationship Between End-of-Life Caregiving Burden and Bereavement Depressive-Symptom Trajectory.

BACKGROUND: The results of meta-analyses indicate sense of coherence (SOC) has a positive effect in terms of reducing subjective caregiving burden and depressive symptoms in family caregivers. However, the mechanism by which SOC mediates psychological distress remains unexplored longitudinally. PURPOSE: This study was designed to examine how SOC mediates the impact of self-perceived caregiving burden on depressive symptoms during the first 2 years of bereavement following the care-recipient's death. METHODS: For this secondary analysis, 649 individuals who had provided end-of-life caregiving

Standardized Program of Resistance Training for Prostate Cancer Patients Receiving Androgen Deprivation Therapy (SPoRT-PCa-ADT): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) for prostate cancer causes significant adverse effects including muscle wasting, bone density reduction, increased fatigue, and psychological distress. Despite growing evidence supporting exercise as an effective countermeasure, standardized evidence-based protocols for this population remain underdeveloped in clinical practice. Exercise is beneficial for managing cancer-related side effects, and general exercise guidelines for cancer survivors are available, but tailoring of exercise interventions may be more effective in those with treatment-spe

Healing professional rifts: a qualitative investigation of nursing students' occupation stigmatisation during clinical rotations.

BACKGROUND: Compared to students in other disciplines, nursing students often face significantly more negative perceptions about their profession. This occupational stigma adversely affects their views on their future professional roles, their autonomy in decision-making, and the perceived value of their work. These detrimental beliefs influence their self-assessment and exacerbate their negative feelings towards their chosen career, potentially contributing to reduced workforce retention and diminished interest in nursing careers. Consequently, it is essential to place greater emphasis on enh

Effects of psychological birth trauma on obsessive-compulsive behaviors during the postpartum period in terms of infant care: the chain-mediating role of intolerance of uncertainty and dyadic coping.

BACKGROUND: Obsessive-compulsive disorder is one of the common mental health problems among perinatal women, and the postpartum period represents a particularly vulnerable stage for the emergence of clinically significant obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Postpartum infant care-related obsessive-compulsive behaviors may exacerbate maternal negative emotions such as anxiety and depression through a cognitive-behavioral cycle and impair the development of the mother-infant relationship. Birth trauma is one of the influencing factors of perinatal mental health, and obsessive-compulsive behaviors may

Mechanisms of ulnar collateral ligament injury in baseball: criteria and rationale for return to play - a systematic review.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Return-to-play (RTP) readiness is a critical consideration for common baseball injuries, including after ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries. UCL injuries, often resulting from repetitive throwing stress, can significantly impact an athlete’s career, requiring interventions ranging from nonoperative rehabilitation to surgical reconstruction. While RTP criteria for these injuries exist, they remain inconsistent across studies and clinical practice. Commonly reported RTP criteria include achieving pain-free range of motion and completion of progressive throwing distance

Functional Bracing After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstructions: A Review of the Current Literature.

UNLABELLED: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are increasingly common in pediatric and adolescent athletes, driven by rising participation in high-risk sports. Functional knee bracing (FKB) has been proposed as a strategy to reduce both initial injuries and reinjuries following ACL reconstruction (ACLR). The current review examines biomechanical and clinical evidence related to the use of FKB status post-ACLR, focusing on its potential in preventing ACL re-injury. Biomechanical studies suggest that FKB may reduce abnormal knee movements in controlled conditions, specifically anterior t

Understanding health-related quality of life of informal carers in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: a scoping review and conceptual framework.

BACKGROUND: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a rapidly progressive, life-limiting neurodegenerative disease. Informal carers provide extensive support, significantly impacting their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Current HRQoL measurement using person-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in ALS carers lacks consistency and comprehensiveness, hindering robust assessment and synthesis. There is evident need for a comprehensive conceptual framework of HRQoL, to fully capture the multidimensional nature of caregiving in ALS. Such a framework is essential to inform research and clinical
