From 1980 to 1992, we found false negative results from Technetium (Tc)-99m abdominal scans in seven children with massive gastrointestinal bleeding from ectopic gastric mucosae. Other examinations--including endoscopy, gastrointestinal series studies, angiography, and Tc-99m-labeled red blood cell scans to search for the source of the bleeding--were all in vain. Small bowel non-Meckelian diverticulosis is a rare condition with only a few published cases despite being described over 200 years ago. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, studies suggested that many patients may experience gastrointestinal manifestations. Intestinal symptoms could worsen the inflammation and infection associated with small bowel diverticulitis. Here we present three cases: one with inflammation and rupture in a COVID-19 patient and another as an asymptomatic detection. Small bowel diverticulosis is rare. False diverticula form in the jejunum, and less commonly, the ileum. As with their large bowel counterparts, these diverticula provide a pocket for stasis of bowel content, leading to the formation of enteroliths. A 70-year-old man with previous history of TUR-BT presented positive urinary cytology at one year follow-up. Cystoscopy with bladder mapping was negative, and IVP revealed multiple outpouchings of the right upper ureter without hydronephrosis. Ureteroscopy failed because of an underlying stricture. Surgical excision of the strictured segment and of 2.5 cm of cranial ureter was performed. Histopathology demonstrated focal hyperplasia of the urothelium with outpouchings involving only the mucosa, compatible with the diagnosis of pseudodiverticula.
