Shortening time scale to reduce thermal effects in quantum transistors.

In this article, we present a quantum transistor model based on a network of coupled quantum oscillators destined to quantum information processing tasks in linear optics. To this end, we show in an analytical way how a set of N quantum oscillators (data-bus) can be used as an optical quantum switch, in which the energy gap of the data bus oscillators plays the role of an adjustable "potential barrier". This enables us to "block or allow" the quantum information to flow from the source to the drain. In addition, we discuss how this device can be useful for implementing single qubit phase-shift

Effects of multisensory integration processes on response inhibition in adolescent autism spectrum disorder.

BACKGROUND: In everyday life it is often required to integrate multisensory input to successfully conduct response inhibition (RI) and thus major executive control processes. Both RI and multisensory processes have been suggested to be altered in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It is, however, unclear which neurophysiological processes relate to changes in RI in ASD and in how far these processes are affected by possible multisensory integration deficits in ASD. METHOD: Combining high-density EEG recordings with source localization analyses, we examined a group of adolescent ASD patients (n =

Cryopreservation of non-human primate sperm: priorities for future research.

Wild populations of many non-human primate species have declined alarmingly due to habitat destruction, hunting and genetic isolation. Captive breeding programmes to aid species survival could be enhanced by the use of assisted reproductive techniques, such as artificial insemination (AI), if a source of viable sperm was readily accessible. Cryobanks of primate sperm could provide such a supply if techniques for freezing sperm could be developed. Although sporadic attempts to cryopreserve primate sperm have been reported for some of the more frequently encountered zoo-maintained species, there

Beyond faces: The effect of context on ensemble emotion perception.

The ability to judge the overall emotion of a crowd is fundamental to navigating naturalistic social scenes. However, research has typically studied such judgments using isolated faces, without any contextual information. In two experiments, this study investigates how facial expressions, background context, and observers' emotional states jointly influence ensemble emotion perception in naturalistic scenes. In Experiment 1, participants judged the overall emotion of crowd scenes that were constructed by superimposing human figures, whose facial emotional values were quantified on a continuous

Enhancing multi-task in vivo toxicity prediction via integrated knowledge transfer of chemical knowledge and in vitro toxicity information.

The evaluation of potential drug toxicity is a crucial step in early drug development. in vivo toxicity assessment represents a key challenge that must be addressed before advancing to clinical trials. However, traditional in vivo experiments primarily rely on animal models, raising concerns regarding cost, time efficiency, and ethical considerations. To address these challenges, various computational approaches have been developed to support in vivo toxicity evaluations, though these methods often demonstrate limited generalizability due to data scarcity. In this study, we propose MT-Tox, a k
