PURPOSE: To report a new corneal iron ring after hyperopic laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).

A 17-year old female patient with extragenital lichen sclerosus et atrophicus was treated with the pulsed dye laser. Local and systemic therapy before treatment showed no effect. The lesions were removed completely with four treatment sessions. As for side effects, no pigment changes and no visible scarring was observed. The patient experienced no recurrence within a follow-up time of 7 months. The mechanism whereby lichen sclerosus et atrophicus is altered by the pulsed dye laser is unknown.

Homeostasis parameters, level of endotoxicosis, free radical lipid peroxidation, and antiradical defense were studied in young children administered laser exposures and antioxidants unithiol and vitamin E within the protocol of intensive case for pyoinflammatory diseases. The authors analyze the condition of free-radical oxidation and activity of antioxidant system, clinical effectiveness of He-Ne laser therapy of patients with chronic pyelonephritis. It is shown that clinical manifestation of the disease is accompanied with activation of free radical oxidation and hypoactivity of antioxidant system. Endovascular laser hemotherapy stimulates antioxidant system, activity of superoxide dismutase, in particular. A good response and immunomodulation are achieved.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate endoscopic CO2 laser arytenoidectomy(ECO2LA) for the treatment of bilateral vocal cord paralysis (BVCP).
METHODS: Eight cases have been operated upon and observed for 6 to 40 months. Three of them were extralaryngeal approach artenoidectomy failures. All of them had tracheostomy before. The technique was to modification of Ossoff ECO2LA model. A small part of ventricular fold and posterior part of vocal cord was vaporized by laser. The mucoperichondrium overlying the arytenoid was reserved and sutured. After 3 months the opposite arytenoid was treated similarly.

A variety of grafting procedures using autologous melanocytes have achieved promising results in the treatment of vitiligo. We here report on the preparation of an adequate graft recipient bed by pulsed Erbium-YAG laser skin ablation.
