OBJECTIVE: To examine personality characteristics as potential mediators of the association between Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) and psychiatric disorders.

AIM: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of the current status and longitudinal changes in different clinical and social variables with quality of life (QOL) in opiate addiction. Our hypotheses were that drug use, comorbid personality disorders and social problems are associated with worse QOL.

We conducted a study of 65 adults who had undergone laryngectomy for the treatment of laryngeal cancer. There are contradictory results concerning the frequency of borderline personality disorder (BPD) in bulimic patients and its impact on eating pathology and treatment outcome. We evaluated 240 patients with bulimia nervosa using EDI-2, SIAB and SCL-90-R. Only a minority of patients had a BPD (13.8%). There were no differences in binging or purging behaviour between patients with and without BPD, but borderline patients had significantly more feelings of ineffectiveness and more disturbances in interoceptive awareness.
