The upper lip was totally reconstructed with a radial forearm sensory flap and vermilionplasty using medical tattooing after resection of a malignant melanoma. Three courses of chemotherapy (dacarbazine, nimustine, and vincristine) were given postoperatively. The reconstructed lip had good contour, colour, and sensory recovery.

Hairy polyps (dermoids or oronasopharyngeal teratomas) are a type of congenital tumour that contain elements of bigerminal origin (ectoderm and mesoderm). We describe a baby who presented with a hairy polyp of the hard palate protruding from the mouth. This was not causing respiratory distress but she had feeding difficulties. She was successfully operated on the age of 5 days, the defect was reconstructed with hairless skin of the mass and she was able to suck after a month.

An anatomical repair of bladder exstrophy was done in ten patients (six females and four males, aged 1.5-6 months. We describe our method of exstrophy with epispadias repair done in a single stage achieving anatomical closure including relocating skin from an infraphallic to a supraphallic position. Benign symmetrical lipomatosis (Madelung syndrome) is a rare disease of unknown aetiology, which is characterised by diffuse growth of non-encapsulated lipomas. Between 1995 and 2000 we treated 11 patients with benign symmetrical lipomatosis in the head and neck. The group comprised 10 men and one woman aged 34 to 62 years (mean 47). The most common complaints were reduced range of movement of the head and obstruction when eating or speaking. Combined lipectomy and liposuction were done for all patients, with liposuction being done at a second session. The mean follow-up period was 2.7 years.

The pyramidalis muscle is introduced as a new small muscle free flap, with description of its anatomy, the surgical technique and the clinical results in five different cases in which this flap was used to treat small recalcitrant wounds in the foot/ankle region. The pyramidalis muscle can be an alternative option in selective cases to reduce donor site morbidity as compared with more traditional free flaps.

The purpose of this retrospective study was to review the method of using the Abbé flap for correction of secondary bilateral cleft lip deformity in selected patients with tight upper lip, short prolabium, lack of acceptable philtral column and Cupid's bow definition, central vermilion deficiency, irregular lip scars, and associated nasal deformity. A total of 39 patients with the bilateral cleft lip nasal deformity received Abbé flap and simultaneous nasal reconstruction during a period of 6 years.
