Cartilage and bone in the lumbar vertebrae of magnesium-deficient (LoMg) rats were studied after 4 and 8 weeks of Mg restriction. In order to determine the effectiveness of wrist arthrodesis using dynamic compression plating and bone grafting, we reviewed 18 consecutive procedures in 17 patients performed using a standardized technique over a 6-year period. Fourteen patients had previously undergone an average of 2.1 operations prior to arthrodesis. Mean follow-up was 48 months. The possibilities and limitations of conventional radiography and CT in detecting maxillo-facial fractures are shown both experimentally and in a clinical setting.
