The exercise test in 30 patients with hypertrophic (HCM) and 29 patients with dilatative cardiomoyopathy (DCM) showed a positive test with significant ST depression in half of each group. The present study comprises a pathological review of 18 necropsy cases with nonspecific aorto-arteritis (Takayasu's disease), autopsied at the Instituto Nacional de Cardiología of Mexico up to 1976. Thirty-four patients with intermittent lower gastrointestinal bleeding were diagnosed angiographically as having angiodysplasia of the cecum and right colon. Repeated barium and endoscopic examinations were negative. Right colectomy was performed on 17 patients, who were followed postoperatively for up to 7 years. Of these, four patients rebled, two of whom had angiographic evidence of related lesions involving other parts of the colon and terminal ileum. Fifty-one parasitic cardiomyopathies studied for periods ranging from 1 to 14 years were analyzed. In 32 cases chagasic etiology was demonstrated and in 19 cases toxoplasmic etiology. In the chagasic cases the diagnosis was confirmed by serological study and/or xenodiagnosis. In one of these patients an aneurysmatic dilatation of the left ventricular cavity was found.
