We describe an extremely rare case of a clival mucocele and complement the case report with a literature review. A 30-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with unclear neurologic symptoms after bouldering and left-sided hyposensitivity in her face and radial surface of the forearm. Magnetic resonance imaging was suspicious of a clival mucocele, which was confirmed in computed tomography. Endoscopic drainage of the mucocele was undertaken, after which the patient recovered fully.

We report a case of a 64-year-old man who developed a painful pulsatile mass in the distal forearm after a bicycle fall with fracture of the wrist. Ultrasonography confirmed a 2.5-cm large pseudoaneurysm of the radial artery. The patient underwent surgical exploration. The pseudoaneurysm was resected and the defect in the arterial wall was reconstructed with an autologous saphenous vein patch. We suggest that the double arterial supply of the hand should be preserved whenever possible.

The incidence of above-wrist replantations is decreasing, mainly due to better working conditions and increased safety precautions. Osteosynthesis with a plate or external fixator is usually regarded as the gold standard of fixation. We present an unusual case of intramedulary fixation of both forearm bones to the 2nd and the 5th metacarpal bone in the case of a patient with total carpal loss. This kind of fixation gives a satisfactory result with virtually no limitation of pronation and supination movements of the wrist.

A 28-year-old man presented with a lipofibroma of the median nerve of the left hand. We released the carpal tunnel, did a neurolysis, and biopsied of the median nerve together with a distal fasciotomy of the forearm. Two years after the operation, the paraesthesiae of the middle finger had improved but was still present to a lesser degree. Initial considerations about treatment should be directed toward biopsy and alleviation of the compression neuropathy, rather than total excision.

The 55-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital ward in a bad condition, with some symptoms of dehydration, polydipsia, polyuria, hyperglycaemia and slight metabolic acidosis and with numerous xanthomas on the trunk, forearms, thighs and buttocks. Moreover he was confirmed to have teeth caries. During the treatment the infusion liquids, insulin, metronidasol, amoxiclav, simvastatin were administered. The caries teeth extraction was performed. Metabolic compensation and disappearance of skin changes was obtained.

A 94-year-old man presented with a relatively asymptomatic eruption of his forearms, abdomen, and back comprising symmetric erythematous papules and plaques. Generalized granuloma annulare is an idiopathic disorder that occurs more commonly in older patients and is characterized by numerous flesh-colored-to-erythematous papules. It is distinguished histologically by palisading granulomas with central connective tissue degeneration and with central mucin. Therapy has been attempted with various modalities with moderate efficacy.

In the group of patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), besides paresthesias in their fingers, we can see paresthesias in forearm; pain in elbow, sholder and neck, which is a reason for complicated diagnosis of it. This kind of complexnost of differential diagnosis pain in hand, is a reason for complet and strict diagnostic procedure. There are 30 patients with clinical and neurophysological findings for CTS in this paper who made provocative tests. Analising their results we made diagnosis of KTS.

A 70-year-old man developed hyperpigmentation of his forearms, hands, fingernails, sclerae, ears, and teeth after 9 years of therapy with minocycline for acne rosacea. Minocycline is widely used in the treatment of acne vulgaris and uncommonly produces the side effect of hyperpigmentation. This effect does not appear to be dose-dependent and usually resolves within months to years after discontinuation of therapy. Discoloration of adult teeth, however, is generally permanent.

On the basis of examination and treatment of II children the authors showed that the injury of the deep branch of children radial nerve sometimes is connected with operative interventions, performing for fractures and fracturodispositions of the radial bone in the elbow joint area, and in part of children-in forearm soft tissue wounds. Reconstruction of the deep branch with the help of autotransplants performed during the first year after injury results in the high recovery rate of reduction of the I-V finger extension.

Trans-scaphoid perilunate fracture dislocations are difficult injuries to treat. Described herein is the unusual case of a trans-scaphoid perilunate fracture dislocation in which the proximal scaphoid fragment was ejected into the volar aspect of the distal forearm. The significant displacement of the proximal fragment represented complete devascularization of this piece. This unique fracture raised difficult management issues in the treatment of this injury. A primary proximal row carpectomy was performed, with a successful clinical result.

Lateral and medial epicondylitis (tennis elbow) are common pain complaints about the elbow in the adult. Disability from persistent pain and weakness at the elbow lead to surgical correction of the disorder. Complications of surgery arise from the improper diagnosis of the origin of the pain, failure to correct the pathology with the surgical procedure, and resultant profound forearm weakness or elbow instability. Rehabilitation during the postoperative period is critical for successful return to work or sports activity.

An exceptional case of posterior dislocation of the ulna at the elbow, associated with fracture of the radial shaft, is reported. Diagnosis was established with anteroposterior and lateral radiographs of the forearm, elbow and wrist. Treatment consisted of closed reduction of the ulnar dislocation and open reduction and internal fixation of the radius with an AO plate. A long arm cast was applied for 3 weeks with the elbow held at 90 degrees. Six months later full function of the limb had been achieved.

All too often, the labors of manipulation and anatomical reduction of a supracondylar humeral fracture of the elbow requiring, perhaps, an hour or two, are noticed to be lost once the patients' follow-up radiographs are seen. It is our feeling that the reduction is lost when the forearm is externally rotated for the lateral view of the elbow. To prevent this, we recommend placing the X-ray cassette in the axilla to obtain the true lateral view, thus preventing the unsupervised rotation of the fracture.

However, the lower limits of its size have now been ascertained over a large series and it is clear that it could be lengthened sufficiently to reach the vault of skull, mid-leg or mid-forearm levels in all cases. Of course, to do so will decrease its width. An alternative to pedicle transfer is to use the whole omentum as a free transplant by vascular anastomosis.

Systemic use of voriconazole (VCZ) might be restricted by adverse events, such as hepatotoxicity and neurotoxicity, or drug-drug interactions. Topical VCZ application to skin may help to treat local infection more effectively and limit unwanted whole-body exposure. Topical VCZ cream was stable for 90 days when refrigerated. A patient with cutaneous Fusarium solani infection on his right forearm was successfully treated with topical 1% VCZ cream after failure of oral VCZ treatment.

Nocardiosis is a potentially life-threatening infection that affects both immunocompetent and immunosuppressed hosts. We discuss a case of an elderly gentleman with history of orthotopic liver transplantation who presented with cellulitis of his left forearm. When he did not respond to the typical antibiotic coverage for bacterial cellulitis, skin biopsy was performed. N. arthritidis was identified as the pathogen, a relatively newly identified human pathogen first described to cause human disease in 2004.

Forearm fractures in children complicated with non-union are uncommon. Various methods have previously been reported to manage this condition. Well documented techniques would include iliac crest grafting, cancellous insert grafting, ulnar segment grafting, cortical tibial grafting, vascularized fibular grafting and bone transport by ring fixation. The authors present a case of a child with an atrophic non-union of the ulna who was successfully treated with a cortico-cancellous tibial strut bone graft.

The extensor mechanism of the fingers, hand, wrist, and forearm is extremely intricate. Disruptions to the extensor system are common and can be associated with poor patient outcomes when not treated appropriately. Although extensor tendon injuries receive much less attention in the literature than flexor tendon injuries do, several recent studies have examined this topic. This article presents an overview of the treatment of extensor tendon injuries, with a focus on recent developments.

There are 12 dermatologically relevant Microsporum (M.) species. The most frequent species are M. canis, M. audouinii and M. gypseum. We report an infection of the right forearm with the rare dermatophyte M. fulvum. A KOH examination of scales revealed a tinea corporis. The scales were cultured on Dermasel(R) agar with the identification of the geophilic dermatophyte M. gypseum. However, ITS sequencing and mass spectrometry revealed M. fulvum as the correct pathogen.
