OBJECTIVES: To date 70 cases of oncocytic carcinomas (OCs) have been described in 55 reports. We describe an OC of the parotid gland in a 56-year-old man with simultaneous breast cancer.
METHODS: In June 2006, a 56-year-old man was referred to the Otorhinolaryngology Division for a painless right preauricolar mass. The facial nerve was functionally normal. Total parotidectomy with facial nerve preservation was performed. In January 2007, the patient was referred to the Surgical Division for a left mammary nodule. Total mastectomy with axillary lymphoadenectomy was performed.

Merkel cell carcinoma was diagnosed in a 79-year-old Caucasian woman. The tumour was localised to the upper lip and was in stage T2. Synchronous carcinomas of the colon and rectum are of considerable clinical significance because of their frequency, the number of extra tumours missed and the difficulty of preoperative diagnosis. BACKGROUND: Cardiac myxoma with familial involvement is a rare manifestation of an uncommon tumor, which nevertheless has been reported with increasing frequency in the past two decades. As a feature of the hereditary Carney syndrome, cardiac myxoma occurs at a much younger age, often has multicentric origins, and tends to recur.
