Atrial pacing (AP), despite its beneficial hemodynamic and antiarrhythmic effect, is still an underused mode of stimulation. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term results of AP. Sixty four patients (pts) with sinus node disease (28 male and 36 female: mean age 54.2; range: 44-88 years), 3.2% of the total implantation at our clinic were treated with AP between 1982-96. Chance observations made in 24 (0.91%) of the 2639 cases in whom tubal ligation was done by laparoscopic method in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi during the last 4 years are reported and analysed. Congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract (0.30%), pelvic adhesions with or without thickened tubes due to inflammatory causes (0.49%) and other abnormalities (0.11%) were visualised. It is concluded that surgical correction of all uterine defects is not so necessary for a successful outcome of pregnancy.

The clinical manifestations of Sjõgren's syndrome (SS) and sarcoidosis can be identical. Of the 1600 patients whom we have evaluated for dryness of the mouth and eyes, 300 proved to have SS and 5 had sarcoidosis. The patients with sarcoidosis had combinations of salivary gland enlargement, elevated antinuclear antibody titers, reduced salivary flow rates, and keratoconjunctivitis sicca, findings typically associated with SS. Finding non-caseating granulomas in a labial salivary gland biopsy specimen may be the only way to definitively differentiate these two disorders.

The objective of this study was to determine the rate of pathological fetal acidemia in the absence of fluid observed at amniotomy. In a prospective study of central fractures of the talus, radiological data (plain radiography, CT, MRI) were scrutinized in terms of correlation with histological findings (biopsy taken at time of screw removal). We present the MR appearances of three patients with biopsy-proven primary lymphoma of skeletal muscle. In each case lymphoma resulted in bulky expansion of the involved muscle, homogeneously isointense to skeletal muscle on T1-weighted images, homogeneously hyperintense to skeletal muscle on T2-weighted images and diffusely enhancing following intravenous administration of gadopentate dimeglumine.
