UNLABELLED: Several techniques have been defined to use in surgical treatment of postburn scar contractures. However, distal flap necrosis is frequently seen since most of these techniques require random-pattern flaps and there is often poor vascular supply to scar tissue. This paper introduces an innovative technique of highly conservative limb-saving surgery for juxta-articular osteosarcoma. This technique consists of marginal tumour excision, joint preservation and reconstruction by distraction osteogenesis. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the methods of dealing with chordee without hypospadias.
METHODS: From November 1982 to December 2000, 18 cases of chordee without hypospadias were treated using the methods of urethra extension, urethra elongation with a pedicled transverse prepuce entoplastron flap, a longitudinal prepuce flap or a scrotum mediastinum flap.
RESULTS: One case was cured with the first method; 5 cases with the second method; 6 cases with the third method; 6 cases with the fourth method. Fistula occurred in one case treated with the second method.

The use of a vascularized fibular transfer is a technique used for the reconstruction of large defects in long bones. A technical variation that consists of osteotomizing the transplant, giving two distinct segments, is adapted in the reconstruction of long bones with a large diameter, in particular, the femur or the proximal tibia. The results obtained using this technique in four clinical cases are presented here. The length of the bone defects was between 7.5 and 11 cm. There were two cases involving the tibia, one case the distal humerus, and one case the pelvis.

We present two reconstructed cases after malignant skin tumor of comparatively large defects of lip including the commissure using remaining lip tissue alone. Sagittal synostosis is the most common form of craniosynostosis (i.e., premature fusion of cranial sutures). Sagittal synostosis, which is the premature fusion of the sagittal suture, occurs in 56% to 58% of all reported cases of craniosynostosis. This article describes calvarial vault remodeling, the procedure of choice at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for surgical intervention to correct sagittal synostosis. Perioperative interventions to minimize patients' risks and maximize benefits are explained. A case study is presented to describe the experience of one patient and his family members.

PURPOSE: Functional reconstruction of children born with bladder exstrophy results in a successful outcome in the majority. However, failed bladder neck repair, especially after multiple surgical attempts, compromises the quality of the tissues and, thus, limits surgical options. In patients with recessive infraorbital rims, alloplastic augmentation of the infraorbital rims makes the eyes appear less prominent and improves appearance. The purpose of this experimental study was to determine whether acellular human dermis was capable of complete revascularization in a subcutaneous implantation site with various placement geometries.
