BACKGROUND: Klebsiella pneumoniae-induced pyogenic liver abscess (KP-PLA) has emerged as a life-threatening disease worldwide. However, to date, a limited number of scholars have attempted to systematically elucidate the characteristics of KP-PLA. Microtia is a major congenital anomaly of the external ear. It includes a spectrum of deformities from a grossly normal but small ear to the absence of the entire external ear. BACKGROUND: We observed that basal cell carcinoma (BCC) on the ear demonstrates a more aggressive phenotype compared with other body sites.
OBJECTIVE: We sought to determine if it is statistically significant that BCC on the ear is more aggressive.
METHODS: We queried our 2009 database for all BCCs biopsied from the ear. Multiple data points, including tumor subtype and risk level, were analyzed for 100 BCCs on the ear and 100 BCCs on the cheek.

Based on the best available data, approximately 2.1 million Americans use illicit cocaine each month; for the last several months, 30% of that cocaine has been "cut" with a veterinary pharmaceutical, levamisole. Levamisole can cause agranulocytosis, leaving patients susceptible to fulminate and opportunistic infections and also can cause a debilitating cutaneous necrotizing vasculitis. In this manuscript, we describe a case and provide an image of levamisole-induced necrotizing vasculitis of the ears.

We describe a four-generation family in whom 5 members show the combination of a large head, ptosis, nasal speech that sometimes goes along with a cleft palate, full cheeks, small mouth, and prominent ears, and who also have learning problems.
