Aseptic abscesses syndrome (AA) is an emerging clinicopathological entity characterized by visceral sterile collections of mature neutrophils that do not respond to antibiotics but regress quickly when treated with corticosteroids. Although most previous case reports of AA have been restricted to Europe, we present here a Japanese woman with AA showing recurrence of splenic abscesses, ileocolitis, pyoderma gangrenosum, and arthritis. Although both steroid therapy and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha blockade were effective, relapses remained frequent.

Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated disease of unknown etiology that affects the skin and mucous membranes. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), approximately five million Americans, 3% of the population, have been diagnosed with psoriasis. Oral manifestations of psoriasis are less well recognized than skin lesions, and treatment for oral lesions is not standardized. This article will review the clinical presentation of skin and mucous membrane psoriasis, along with the therapeutic modalities available to oral health-care providers.

BACKGROUND: Antitumor necrosis factor alpha (aTNF) therapies are commonly used in the treatment of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, inhibition of the TNF-alpha pathway predisposes to serious infections, including histoplasmosis, which is the most common invasive fungal infection in individuals on aTNF therapy and carries a high mortality rate when associated with delayed diagnosis. Few data exist on the frequency, presentation, and appropriate treatment of pediatric patients with histoplasmosis on aTNF therapy.

PURPOSE: To report a case of bilateral Mooren's-type corneal ulcers associated with severe hidradenitis suppurativa.
DESIGN: Case report and literature review.
METHODS: Detailed clinical course including presentation, medical, and surgical treatment.
RESULTS: A 47-year-old African American male with severe hidradenitis suppurativa presented with bilateral Mooren's-type corneal ulcers. His systemic workup was unrevealing. Progression led to bilateral corneal perforations. Systemic immunosuppression and surgical intervention were needed to control his disease.

BACKGROUND: Psoriasiform eruptions occur in association with antitumour necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha treatments in autoinflammatory diseases. The major reported clinical presentation is palmoplantar pustulosis, sometimes accompanied with plaque-like psoriasis. In some reports, histological findings suggest psoriasis whereas others favour a lichenoid drug reaction.
