Our series includes the first 19 consecutive patients with pulmonary valvar stenosis who underwent balloon valvuloplasty in our hospital. All of them have been evaluated by an echo-Doppler study at different follow-up times, and in 10 patients the study was also performed prior to the dilatation. Coronary arteriovenous fistula (CAVF) may occasionally be complicated by bacterial endocarditis. The actual anatomical site of infection has not been clearly defined. A 13-year-old boy with a CAVF and Streptococcus viridans bacteraemia is described. The origin of the fistulous tract and a vegetation in close proximity to the distal drainage site into the right ventricle was demonstrated by Doppler two-dimensional echocardiography.

In 88 pregnant women (7 to 40 weeks' gestation) we performed Doppler velocimetric studies of the uterine artery on its course through the parametrium by means of the newly developed, frontally radiating duplex sector scanner. Heart rate, blood velocity, volumetric blood flow, and arterial diameter for 10 horses given acetylpromazine were determined from measurements of the dorsal metatarsal artery 3 (the great metatarsal artery), using 2-dimensional real-time and gated pulsed Doppler ultrasonography. Acetylpromazine induced significant increases in arterial diameter (P less than 0.01) and volumetric flow rate (P less than 0.05)--all compatible with adrenergic blockade. There was a trend indicating that there was increased blood velocity. Heart rate was unchanged.

We analyzed blood flow pattern in the interatrial communication in 24 patients with complete transposition of the great arteries (TGA). We assessed if supplementation of an obese-inducing diet with yellow pea fibre throughout pre-pregnancy (PP), gestation, and lactation could influence maternal gut microbiome composition and improve metabolic health and liver steatosis in newly weaned rat male and female offspring. Forty female Sprague-Dawley rats were fed a low (CON) or high (HC) calorie diet for a 6-week PP period. At the end of PP, HC animals were randomly assigned to either remain on the HC diet or the HC diet with yellow pea fibre (HC + FBR) for an additional 4-weeks prior to mating and throughout gestation and lactation.
