Glycogen storage disease type IV is rare. The disease is characterized by widespread storage of a polysaccharide similar to amylopectin. An autopsy case of a 6-year-old Thai boy with cirrhosis and deposits in the liver, heart, muscle and central nervous system was described along with histochemical and electron microscopic findings.

A field experiment was conducted to explore the effects of cultivars under flooding irrigation and dry cultivation (D) on starch, fatty acids, and amino acids metabolism, starch physicochemical traits, and pasting properties of rice flour. We present a clinical study and muscle biopsy of a 13-year-old female who suffered hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hepatosplenomegaly and myopathy of prolonged evolution. The muscle biopsy showed a glycogenosis with deposits of amylopectin-like material. Differential diagnosis was made with basophilic degeneration of the myocardium, and with "polyglucosan bodies disease." In the existing literature we found only one case of juvenile amylopectinosis, and another four adult cases.
