During our studies on breast diseases, the following biochemical values were measured: chlorine, sodium, potassium and albumin. We examined 153 syringe biopsies from women aged between 34 and 55 years, and an analysis of the above mentioned parameters enabled us to classify the breast cyst fluid into 2 groups: group I was definitely benign, while group II was calculated as having a risk factor two to four times greater than the control group in developing breast cancer.

Cystic hydatid disease is caused by the parasite Echinococcus granulosus. Indigenous infections are seen among the Indians and Inuit. Man is an occasional intermediate host in whom the disease is manifested by the presence of one or more hydatid cysts, usually located in the liver or lung and rarely at other sites such as the breast, as in this case report. The cyst is usually asymptomatic; in this it case was discovered on routine mammography. On aspiration biopsy, 1 ml of clear fluid was removed, but there was a residual lump which was successfully excised.

Gross cystic breast disease is a benign lesion occurring in 7% of adult women. Apocrine changes of epithelium lining the breast cysts cause a higher risk of developing breast cancer. According to the possible role of bile acids in the pathogenesis of cancer, we analysed breast cyst fluids aspirated from 96 women for distribution of conjugated bile acid concentrations in the two subsets of breast cysts. Hydatid cyst is a helminthic infection caused by Echinococcus granulosus that we encounter in various organs, especially in the liver and the lungs. Hydatid cyst of the breast is seen very rarely even in regions where the disease is endemic. In this article, we aimed to present a female patient who presented with complaints of a mass in her right breast, was diagnosed as having hydatid cyst as a result of physical examination and radiological imaging methods, and was treated.

The use of Tamoxifen as treatment for breast cancer is well established and its use experimentally as prophylaxis is promising, but little has been written about mammographically detected changes in breast parenchyma as a result of Tamoxifen therapy. We report two cases of spontaneous regression of breast cysts after Tamoxifen therapy for premenopausal breast cancer in the contralateral breast.

Ultrasound examination of the breast is extensively carried out to differentiate cystic from solid masses. Ten atypical cysts are presented that do not fulfil all the criteria for the ultrasonic diagnosis of breast cysts. These had internal echoes and some showed irregular contours or diminished through transmission. Diagnostic aspiration confirmed the cystic nature of these lesions. Macroscopic cysts of the breast, defined as clinically apparent lesions, are common causes of masses in the breast. In a 14 year study of 4,207 patients, cysts in the breast were diagnosed by percutaneous aspiration in 286 women who had cysts on 561 occasions.
