OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to determine if the use of locally implanted, synthetic calcium sulfate tablets, impregnated with antibiotics, can heal lower-extremity osteomyelitis, without the use of oral and/or intravenous antibiotics or wound complications associated with similarly used mined or refined calcium sulfate.
PATIENTS: Over a 5-year period, 354 patients with clinically confirmed osteomyelitis of the lower extremity were evaluated, and 337 met the inclusion criteria; 14 were lost to follow-up.

Choledocholithiasis (CDL) is known to be associated with gastric problems, such as disturbances of secretory function of the stomach. A frequent occurrence in this pathological condition is chronic gastritis with atrophy of gastric mucosa. It was shown that consumption of Uvinskaya mineral water during the period preceding calculi formation has beneficial therapeutic effect not only on the gallbladder function but also on both the morphological structure of the stomach and the secretory function of its mucous membrane.

This work presents a novel method to valorise this waste into high-performance polyferric sulfate (PFS) coagulants. A new technique using calcium sulfate augmentation for root coverage is described. Three consecutive cases were treated with the calcium sulfate technique adjacent to teeth being treated with the classic connective tissue grafting technique. Although this is only a pilot study, the postoperative results of the calcium sulfate-treated sites showed similar tissue shape, color, and contour to the adjacent grafted sites.
