A series of fourteen novel phenol carbamates was synthesized and evaluated as potential selective butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitors targeting cholinergic dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease (AD). The compounds were prepared efficiently from resveratrol analogs via a Wittig reaction followed by carbamoylation, and their structures were confirmed by NMR, MS, and HRMS analyses. A series of carbamate derivatives were synthesized and their carbonic anhydrase I and II isoenzymes and acetylcholinesterase enzyme (AChE) inhibitory effects were investigated. BACKGROUND: Methyl benzimidazole carbamate (MBC) fungicides are used to control the oilseed rape pathogen Pyrenopeziza brassicae. Resistance to MBCs has been reported in P. brassicae, but the molecular mechanism(s) associated with reductions in sensitivity have not been verified in this species. The first CuI-catalyzed decarboxylative thiolation of terminal alkyne-substituted cyclic carbonates/carbamates to access allenes has been developed. A wide range of hydroxymethyl- and aminomethyl-containing allenyl thioethers were smoothly obtained in good to excellent yields under mild conditions. The copper-allenylidene intermediate among the process is crucial to the decarboxylative thiolation reaction. This method opens up a new channel to access allenyl thioether compounds.

The effect of carbamate local anaesthetics (pentacaine and heptacaine) on contractile responses induced by transmural nerve stimulation, exogenous noradrenaline (NA) and KCl, as well as on noradrenaline-induced Ca2+ mobilization, were investigated in isolated rabbit blood vessels under isometric conditions. Pentacaine and heptacaine inhibited the neurogenic contractions and those elicited by exogenous NA and KCl. An electrochemical method has been developed for α-oxygenations of cyclic carbamates by using a bicyclic aminoxyl as a mediator and water as the nucleophile.
