OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: Histopathological analysis of hair cell survival in human temporal bone sections has historically been binarized such that each hair cell row is rated as either present or absent, thereby greatly underestimating the amount of hair cell loss. Here, we describe and validate a technique to reliably assess fractional hair cell survival in archival sections stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) using high-resolution light microscopy and optical sectioning.

We showed that infection with Trypanosoma congolense in mice led to suppression of listeria-induced delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH). Mice were pre-treated with irradiated T. evansi, which caused rapid and effective suppression of DTH. BACKGROUND: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a poorly understood, multisystem disease with high morbidity and mortality. To improve understanding of its pathobiology, we analyzed single-nucleus RNA sequencing in human HFpEF myocardium versus controls.

METHODS: A retrospective cohort study of women with singleton pregnancies who had cfDNA screening at a single institution at 10 to 20 weeks gestation between October 2011 and October 2017. Fetal fractions were adjusted for gestational age (GA) using multiples of the median (MoM). Multivariable logistic regression was used to estimate the odds ratio (OR) of GDM controlling for potential confounders.
