Air Sac Cystadenoma in a Pet Chicken.

A 2-yr-old female Brahma chicken was presented to the Poultry Mobile Clinic of the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State Un … labeling against cytokeratin AE1/AE3. Gross and histologic findings were consistent with an air sac cystadenoma. Primary respiratory neoplasia in birds is infrequent. Air sac carcinomas, adenocarcinomas, and cystadenocarcinomas have been described in Psittaciformes, Columbiformes, Falconiformes, and Cuculiformes. Benign air sac tumors are poorly documented, a …

A case of multiple serous cystadenoma of pancreas.

INTRODUCTION: Typically, SCN is single and doesn't invade around tissue. In our case, tumors were multiple and had gradually grown and caused vein stenosis. This is extremely rare and unique resected multiple SCN case. In addition, I report that it was thought to be educational that even benign tumors could cause such changes. PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 60-year-old female was diagnosed with 3 multilocular cystic tumors in distal pancreas by contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT) at the preoperative staging for rectal neoplasm. The diameters of cystic tumors were 22/23/29 mm. The CT showed th

Cystadenoma in Retromolar Region: A Case Report.

Cystadenoma is a rare benign salivary gland epithelial tumor that is characterized by intraluminal papillary projection. Majority of the tumors are located in minor salivary glands and usually occur in palatal and buccal mucosa, but rarely found in retromolar area. Clinically it is difficult to differentiate it from other minor salivary gland tumors, and diagnosis is chiefly based on characteristic clinical features and immunohistochemistry. We present a case of Cystadenoma arising from the minor salivary gland in retromolar area of a 44 year old female patient with a special emphasis on the i…

Solid variant of serous cystadenoma of the pancreas.

We describe a case of a solid variant of serous cystadenoma of the pancreas. The preoperative examination results led to a diagnosis of a nonfunctional pancreatic islet cell tumour, and the patient underwent a pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy. The tumour was diagnosed as a solid variant of serous cystadenoma by histopathological examination. Solid variant of serous cystadenoma of the pancreas is difficult to diagnose preoperatively. More cases must be accumulated and investigated to obtain clues for accurate diagnosis.

Mucinous cystadenoma of the appendix. Case report.

BACKGROUND: Pathology of the appendix represents >50% of surgical activity. It is necessary to consider rare pathologies such as mucoceles. These have a high frequency in females with a F/M ratio of 4:1, as well as in patients >50 years of age. The objective of this study is to report on a case of mucinous cystadenoma of the appendix. CLINICAL CASE: We present the case of a 34-year-old male with a history of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis diagnosed at 9 years of age. At 22 years of age, the patient underwent bilateral hip arthroplasty. Since 1998, the patient has presented with renal amyloidos…

Spontaneous rupture of a recurrent hepatic cystadenoma.

Biliary cystadenoma is a rare cystic tumor of the middle aged woman that usually arises in the liver or occasionally in the extrahepatic bile ducts. It has a strong potential for recurrence and for malignant transformation. The lack of specific clinical and biological features hinders diagnosis before surgery. The spontaneous rupture of a hepatobiliary cystadnoma is a very rare and potentially life-threatening complication, with only two reported cases in the English literature. We report a case with spontaneous rupture of a recurrent hepatobiliary cystadenoma in a 32 year-old woman.

Renal mucus gland cystadenomas in a horse.

A 35-year-old horse was submitted to the necropsy service at the University of Kentucky Livestock Disease Diagnostic Center. At necropsy, multiple 1-4-cm-diameter cystic structures were incidentally identified unilaterally in the right renal medulla and the cortex. On histologic examination, the cystic structures compressed the normal renal architecture, were lined by tall columnar epithelium that formed occasional papillary projections, and contained large amounts of mucicarmine and periodic acid-Schiff-positive mucinous material. The masses were diagnosed as renal mucus-gland cystadenomas. T…

[Diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic serous cystadenoma].

OBJECTIVE: To summarize our experience on the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic serous cystadenoma. METHOD: Data from 20 patients with pancreatic serous cystadenoma in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 1994 to 2004 were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS: Ultrasound test was a good choice for primary diagnosis, while computed tomography scan and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) were better choice for the suspected cases. Most tumors (60%) were located in the body and tail of pancreas. The distal pancreatectomy was the commonest operation procedure. The main c…

Immunohistochemical examination of mucinous cystadenoma of the testis.

A case of mucinous cystadenoma of the testis in a 55-year-old man is reported. The tumor was confined to the testis and was clearly separated from the epididymis. There was no connection between the tumor cyst and the rete testis. The lumen of the cyst was lined with a single-layer of columnar cells interspersed with goblet cells. There was neither stromal invasion nor metastasis to other organs and there were no ovarian or germ cell neoplastic elements in the tumor. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that MUC2, MUC5AC, carcinoembryonic antigen, CA19-9, CK7 and CK20 proteins were expressed …

Leiomyoma of the ovary mimicking mucinous cystadenoma.

We present a case of ovarian leiomyoma of a 46-year-old woman with a history of a palpable lower abdominal mass. A multiloculated multiseptated mainly cystic mass in the left adnexa on computed tomography (CT) was initially considered to be an ovarian mucinous cystadenoma. This mass, however, was proved to be a left ovarian vascular leiomyoma on the surgical pathology.

[Papillary cystadenoma of the minor salivary glands].

Papillary cystadenoma of the minor salivary glands is a rare benign tumor that clinically resembles a mucous cyst. We demonstrate its histologic features and differential diagnosis by a case report. Benign and malignant neoplasms of the minor salivary glands are not well acknowledged in the dermatologic literature, but should be considered in the differential diagnosis for mucous cysts.

Hyperandrogenic state associated with a mucinous cystadenoma.

A case of mucinous cystadenoma associated with androgen secretion is presented to add to the growing body of literature concerning hormone secretion by ovarian neoplasms regarded as "nonfunctional." The theorized mechanisms of hormone production in these tumors also are reviewed.

Biliary cystadenoma mistaken for an echinococcal cyst.

Because of the incorrect preoperative diagnosis of echinococcal cyst, a 46-year-old female patient did not receive the surgical procedure of choice for biliary cystadenoma. We suggest that this obscure entity be considered in the differential diagnosis of cystic hepatic masses, with or without calcific margins.
