AIM: To retrospectively investigate the pre-operative clinical factors and ultrasonographic features that influence the accuracy of the intraoperative frozen section (IFS) of ovarian tumors.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Women with ovarian tumors that underwent IFS in one tertiary medical center were recruited from January 2010 to December 2018. Demographic and clinical data of these women were retrieved from medical records in the hospital's centralized database.

250 tissue biopsies of the mamma were examined simultaneously by intraoperative histology (frozen sections) and imprint cytology. In 95% of the cases there was a good agreement between the histologic and cytologic diagnoses. Frozen section (FS) analysis is a powerful tool that can provide a rapid diagnosis, directing operative management. However, FSs can also be misused. We consider an FS to be "inappropriate" when it does not influence operative management or immediate patient care. Prolapsed tissues from seven traumatized globes were examined by frozen section prior to primary enucleation or surgical repair. The findings suggest that if retina is identified on such sections, primary enucleation may be justified. If iris, ciliary body, or choroid is found, the decision regarding management must be based on other factors.

PURPOSE: Frozen sections are a valuable resource when utilised properly. This review aims to raise awareness of the strengths and limitations of its use in gynaecological surgery.
METHODS: This is a review of literature combined with experience and survey of the practice in the United Kingdom.
CONCLUSION: Frozen sections are a valuable adjunct to diagnosis and management in gynaecological surgery, when requested appropriately, handled by a pathologist who is aware of the clinicopathologic setting and accepted by a surgeon who is acquainted with the limitations of the procedure.

Frozen section diagnosis is extensively used in various branches of pathology, but its application in ophthalmic pathology was recognised only in the 1970s. This study was conducted to analyze retrospectively the results of performing sector resection on 56 breasts in 54 patients with breast cancer. The glands were resected with a 2-cm tumor-free margin on both lateral sides and the distal side, and with more than a 3-cm tumor-free margin on the nipple side.
