The standard glass tube used with a conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy is subject to spontaneous displacement. Either internal displacement into the surgically created passageway or external displacement and loss are possible. We have modified the tube by adding a flange 4 to 6 mm from the tube's top. This anchors the tube and significantly reduces postoperative tube mobility. Many procedures that would otherwise fail can be salvaged by using this new tube.

Bioactive glass (BAG) S53P4 is a clinically approved bone substitute with antibacterial, osteoconductive and osteostimulatory properties. Its antibacterial effect is associated with ion release, local pH elevation and osmolality, but the precise biochemical and biophysical mode-of-action is unclear. Here, a case has been reported of a road traffic accident with multiple glass pieces arranged in an unusual pattern in the left maxillary sinus, ethmoid sinus, nasopharynx and medial side of the orbit, as seen in the radiographs. Combined surgical approach through the existing wound and endoscopic surgery was successfully used to remove nearly all the glass pieces.

Ground glass cytoplasmic change in hepatocytes is typically associated with chronic hepatitis B infection. We report 12 cases of glycogen pseudoground glass change that closely mimics hepatitis B inclusions. PURPOSE: To describe the results of management of glass intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs).
METHODS: A total of 51 eyes of 43 patients that sustained penetrating injury with glass IOFB were studied retrospectively. A total of 23.5% had IOFB only in the anterior segment; the rest had IOFB in the posterior segment alone or in both the anterior and posterior segments. Six eyes were followed conservatively despite IOFB in a functional eye.
