PURPOSE: Early presentation of rejection facilitates early initiation of treatment which can favor a reversible rejection and better outcome. We analyzed the incidence, clinical features including rejection-treatment period and outcomes following graft rejection in our series of pediatric corneal graft.

BACKGROUND: Skin chronic rejection (CR) in vascularized composite allotransplantation has not been included in the Banff classification yet. We report a face-transplant patient who developed cutaneous clinicopathologic changes suggestive of CR.
METHODS: The recipient was a 27-year-old man with severe disfigurement of the lower face due to a pyrotechnic explosion. He received a facial allograft, including mandible, cheeks, lips, and chin, in November 2009. Immunosuppression included antithymocyte globulins and bone-marrow infusion then steroids, tacrolimus, and mycophenolate mofetil.

BACKGROUND: Hepatic artery (HA) reconstruction is performed in the clinical liver transplantation.
METHODS: We assessed the importance of HA reconstruction in the success of liver transplantation. Orthotopic liver transplantation was performed without immunosspression from Lewis (RT1l) to Lewis rats (syngeneic transplantation) as well as Lewis to BN (RT1n) rats (allogeneic transplantation) with or without HA reconstruction. We examined graft function, pathology, and mRNA levels using DNA arrays in both arterialized and nonarterialized liver grafts.
