[Home based and group based exercise programs in patients with ankylosing spondylitis: systematic review].

UNLABELLED: <p> INTRODUCTION: Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease characterized by inflammation of the joints of the spine and sacroiliac and to a lesser percentage of the peripheral joints. It is a debilitating condition which reduces quality of life in patients with AS. The practice of physical therapy is recommended as non-pharmacological treatment as well as the treatment and prevention of associated deformities. OBJECTIVE: To collect and summarize the available evidence in scientific databases to realize the effectiveness of home based and group based

Expressions of Identity and Self in Daily Life at a Group Home for Older Persons With Dementia in Japan.

This study focuses on expressions of identity and self among residents at a group home for older persons with dementia in Japan--a study, which started as an explorative study on spirituality--and how residents make meaning of life. Although aware of stages of dementia illness and briefly commenting on these, the analysis does not make any specific point of it. This article views dementia from a sociocultural perspective and is based on participant observations at a group home with 19 residents, combined with interviews with 6 of them. Two central concepts for the study are discussed and drawn

Relation between empathy and aggression and behavior compliance among abused group home youth.

Physically abused youth are often described as more aggressive and noncompliant in comparison with normal children, despite inconclusive findings regarding the nature of behavior problems among these youth. The present study investigated whether empathy would be differentially related to aggression and behavior compliance of abused youth within the natural living context of a group home environment. As predicted, results suggest a strong, positive relationship between empathy and lower rates of interpersonal aggression and a strong positive relationship between empathy and higher rates of beha

Prelabor rupture of the membranes at term: expectant management at home or in hospital? The TermPROM Study Group.

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether adverse effects of expectant management for premature rupture of membranes (PROM) at term and patient satisfaction were greater if women were managed at home rather than in a hospital. METHODS: We undertook a secondary analysis of data from the International TermPROM Study for women managed expectantly at home or in a hospital. Using multiple logistic regression analyses, we determined the effect of home and hospital management and controlled for differences in baseline characteristics, in measures of maternal and neonatal infections and rates of cesarean. Factors Associated With Care Workers' Perceived Difficulty in Collaborating With Nurses on Bowel Care in Dementia Group Homes: A Nationwide Survey in Japan.

BACKGROUND: This exploratory study aimed to identify factors associated with care workers' perceived difficulty in collaborating with nurses regarding bowel care in dementia group homes (GHs) in Japan. METHODS: We conducted a nationwide cross-sectional survey from July to October 2025. Using stratified random sampling, questionnaires were mailed to 2000 of 14,202 GHs listed in national open data. Of 437 responses (21.9%), 423 from care workers were included. Perceived difficulty was rated on a 0-10 numeric rating scale and dichotomized as difficulty (scores 6-10) or no difficulty (scores 0-5)…

A nationwide survey of the opinions of paediatricians regarding the management of neonates born to women with group B Streptococcus in Japanese maternity homes.

OBJECTIVE: The Japanese Midwifery Association (JMA) guidelines allow midwives to manage group B Streptococcus (GBS)-positive women during pregnancy and labour at maternity homes. However, no guidelines exist to manage neonates born to GBS-positive women in Japan. We aimed to investigate the opinions of paediatricians regarding optimal management strategies for neonates born to GBS-positive women in maternity homes. A questionnaire was sent to paediatricians at 396 Japanese perinatal medical centres. We examined opinions regarding examinations and routine clinical tests for neonates born to GBS

Association between grip strength and electrical properties measured by bioimpedance spectroscopy in women with dementia aged 77 to 97 years living in group homes.

Electrical properties estimated from the electrical resistance of the human body can serve as indicators of muscle tissue status and the risk of developing sarcopenia; however, to date, at least to the best of our knowledge, no studies have performed such an assessment in older individuals with advanced dementia. The present study examined the associations between grip strength, body composition and electrical properties using bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) in women aged 77-97 years residing in dementia group homes. A total of 33 participants were enrolled with an average age of 88.1±5.2 year…

Palliative Needs Among Home Care Clients from Underserved Groups: A Cross-Sectional Study.

BackgroundPalliative care (PC) optimizes quality of life for individuals and their families by providing care that promotes dignity, respect, and comfort. Some groups experience inequities related to PC, including persons with mental illness, those living with dementia, linguistic minority groups, and living in rural, remote, or northern areas. There is little data on palliative needs among underserved groups in Canada.MethodsWe analyzed anonymized pan-Canadian population-level data on 1,451,135 home care clients. Palliative needs were defined as having a prognosis of six or fewer months to li

International comparison of home dialysis uptake: a multi-registry analysis from the INTEGRATED Research Group.

BACKGROUND: Despite advantages, home dialysis remains underutilized globally, with significant international variability. This study aims to analyse the pattern and uptake of home dialysis within the first year of dialysis across populations in different countries with similar access to kidney replacement therapy (KRT). METHODS: This retrospective observational study utilized data from multiple national registries: ANZDATA (Australia-New Zealand), CORR (Canada), REIN (France), and UKRR (UK). We included adults over 18 starting dialysis between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2018. The primary

Cost-effectiveness of a home-based group educational programme on renal replacement therapies: a study protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Living donor kidney transplantation (LDKT) is the optimal treatment for most patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). However, there are numerous patients who cannot find a living kidney donor. Randomised controlled trials have shown that home-based education for patients with ESRD and their family/friends leads to four times more LDKTs. This educational intervention is currently being implemented in eight hospitals in the Netherlands. Supervision and quality assessment are being employed to maintain the quality of the intervention. In this study, we aim to: (1) conduct a co

Group home caregivers' comfort levels regarding physical resistance during oral hygiene care.

The purpose of this study was to investigate perceived comfort levels, behaviors, and barriers reported by group home caregivers who provide oral hygiene measures to consumers with special health care needs (SHCN) who physically resist the care. A 24-item survey was sent to 884 caregivers employed at six care facilities in Iowa. Bivariate analyses and logistic regression models were used to analyze the data (alpha = 0.05). The overall response rate was 52%. An analysis of the data indicated that caregivers who felt more comfortable providing oral hygiene for consumers who physically resisted t

Friendship as a moderating factor in the pathway between early harsh home environment and later victimization in the peer group. The Conduct Problems Prevention Research Group.

Two prospective investigations of the moderating role of dyadic friendship in the developmental pathway to peer victimization are reported. In Study 1, the preschool home environments (i.e., harsh discipline, marital conflict, stress, abuse, and maternal hostility) of 389 children were assessed by trained interviewers. These children were then followed into the middle years of elementary school, with peer victimization, group social acceptance, and friendship assessed annually with a peer nomination inventory. In Study 2, the home environments of 243 children were assessed in the summer before

Evaluation of the Strength at Home Group Intervention for Intimate Partner Violence in the Veterans Affairs Health System.

IMPORTANCE: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a serious and prevalent public health issue that is interconnected with experiences of trauma, mental and physical health difficulties, and health disparities. Strength at Home (SAH) is a group intervention for persons using IPV in their relationships. Although previous studies have provided evidence of SAH's effectiveness in reducing IPV, its patient outcomes as implemented within organized health care have not been examined. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate patient outcomes from implementation of SAH in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health syst

Nutritional self-care among a group of older home-living people in rural Southern Norway.

BACKGROUND: Older home-living people are an at-risk group for undernutrition, particularly those who are living alone. Lack of knowledge about healthy dietary habits, altered taste sensation, and declined health status are shown to be some of the factors related to undernutrition. The aims of this study were to explore how a small group of older people in Southern Norway perceived their nutritional self-care. METHODS: An exploratory qualitative approach, combined with a simple self-report questionnaire, was used. Five persons living in rural areas in Southern Norway, who in a former study wer

Parents' experience of having a child with autism and learning disabilities living in a group home: a case study.

Some children with autism and learning disabilities also have aberrant behaviours that are difficult to regulate and stressful for both the child and family members. This case study concerns experiences of 10 parents from five families before and 2 years after entrusting their 10- to 11-year-old child with autism to a group home. Hermeneutic phenomenological analysis of narrative interviews with the parents before the child's moving showed them experiencing grief and sorrow, total exhaustion because of inability to regulate their child's behaviours, social isolation, and negative effects on th

Home is where the host is: evolutionary history of geographic spread, host switching and adaptive genomic signatures in two generalist group B Streptococcus clonal group.

Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a pathogen of global relevance in neonatal and maternal disease as well as bovine mastitis. Two closely related clonal group, denoted 103 and 314 (CG103/314), have been detected in humans and cattle on multiple continents in recent decades but are poorly characterized compared to other host-generalist clades. We examined their potential origins, host-switching events and the presence of a suite of genetic markers for antimicrobial resistance, virulence and host association using a newly assembled dataset of 248 CG103/314 genomes from humans, cattle and food origi
