Background information is given on the changes which occurred in the last 2 years. From the many factors known to influence induction and challenge of contact allergy in animals, the discussion is focused on the choice of induction concentration and the vehicle. Out of 140 selected patients with bronchial asthma 24 demonstrated signs of guinea-pig hypersensitivity. Six further patients with a shorter exposure to guinea-pigs were not sensitized. Clinical and epidemiological observations on 87 cases of donovanosis seen at Port Moresby General Hospital are presented, with detailed reports of three cases in which the disease was more severe. The circumstances of infection described were consistent with venereal transmission. Guinea worm disease (dracunculiasis) is a debilitating waterborne disease. Once widespread, it is now on the brink of eradication. However, the Guinea Worm Eradication Programme (GWEP), like guinea worm itself, has been under-studied by historians. The information on the Gambian form of African human trypanosomiasis (AHT), collected in Guinea, is analyzed. The fauna of tsetse flies currently numbers at least 8 species. Two species are the vectors of AHT. These include G.(N.) palpalis and G.(N.) tachinoides, the latter of which is the vector of animal trypanosomiasis ("nagana" cattle disease) as well.
