There are numerous measures of perinatal quality endorsed by national agencies such as the National Quality Forum (NQF). The sheer number of metrics may lead to confusion about what these measures truly assess, and how to interpret variation in these measures across hospitals, health care systems, and geographic regions. This review presents a conceptual model for the numerous validated measures, an overview of the types of measures endorsed for perinatal quality by NQF in 2016, and potential measures absent from endorsement by these national bodies.

Communities across the United States are increasing efforts to find and count homeless youth. This paper presents findings and lessons learned from a community/academic partnership to count homeless youth and conduct an in depth research survey focused on the health needs of this population. Over a 4 week recruitment period, 632 youth were counted and 420 surveyed. OBJECTIVE: To identify and characterize active national illicit drug use sentinel surveillance systems worldwide.
METHODS: We conducted a scoping review to identify and characterize active sentinel surveillance systems for illicit drug use worldwide. Inclusion criteria: 1) articles describing or analyzing data from sentinel networks with an established national scope, 2) supported by public agencies, and 3) data accessible via online repositories. Uptake of the female condom (FC) in the United States has historically been low; inadequate promotion may be one barrier faced by potential users. We performed a content analysis of state and municipal health department Web sites to describe how the FC is being promoted for pregnancy and disease prevention.
