Radiotherapy treatment optimization is done by generating a set of tentative treatment plans, evaluating them and selecting the plan closest to achieving a set of conflicting treatment objectives. The evaluation of potential plans involves making tradeoffs among competing possible outcomes. Multiattribute decision theory provides a framework for specifying such tradeoffs and using them to select optimal actions. Using human responses to optimize and thus personalize assistance enhances exoskeleton performance during locomotion. Current approaches lack efficiency, comfort, rapid deployability, and computation and actuation simplicity. People are more concerned about the negative consequences of human hazards compared with natural hazards. Results of four experiments show that the same negative outcome (e.g., number of birds killed by an oil spill) was more negatively evaluated when caused by humans than when caused by nature. This study examined how expectant mothers, mothers, and fathers in Southeastern Brazil interpret and justify infant formula use. Four focus groups (n = 28) underwent a hybrid inductive-deductive thematic analysis. Four domains emerged: social pressure; technology and risk control; safety in preparation procedures; and legitimation of parental choices. Expectant mothers framed formula as a justifiable last resort; mothers invoked necessity to reconcile formula use with maternal expectations; fathers more often weighed pragmatic needs, professional recommendations, and observed infant outcomes.

This study examined the comprehension of passive sentences in order to investigate whether individuals with dyslexia rely on parsing heuristics in language comprehension to a greater extent than non-dyslexic readers. In this article, we provide evidence for an early emerging first location heuristic that informs judgments about where things belong. This paper describes speaking practices enacted by young female in-patients during psychotherapy sessions. The patients are in treatment for anxiety and panic disorders (social phobias). The practices involve prosodic, lexical and pragmatic aspects of utterance construction.
