UNLABELLED: The objective of this project was to determine the relationship between cigarette smoking and the reporting of chronic pain syndromes among participants in the Kentucky Women's Health Registry. Data was analyzed on 6,092 women over 18 years of age who responded to survey questions on pain and smoking. Salmonella enterica serotype Kentucky can be a common causative agent of salmonellosis, usually associated with consumption of contaminated poultry. Forty-three rural Kentucky families who obtained child psychiatry consultation during the initial eight months of the University of Kentucky's telemedicine program completed questionnaires assessing their satisfaction with telemedicine. Respondents were 46 parents and nine children. All respondents reported that they were very satisfied with the consultation; all of the children and 98 percent of the parents reported that they were as satisfied with the telemedicine consultation as with an in-person visit. Carbon monoxide (CO) intoxication is a common cause of reported unintentional fatal poisonings in the United States. From 1979 through 1988, an average of 1140 deaths per year were attributed to unintentional CO poisoning. Most of these deaths resulted from exposures in enclosed spaces; CO poisoning associated with outdoor activities occurs rarely. Symptomatic congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease occurs almost exclusively in infants born to seronegative mothers who acquire the virus during pregnancy. This study sought to determine patterns of CMV immunity in women of childbearing age at one center participating in a national study. Cord blood specimens from 100 consecutive deliveries at each of three hospitals were tested for CMV-specific IgG. Salmonellaenterica serovar Kentucky is an emergent human pathogen. Human infection with ciprofloxacin-resistant S. enterica Kentucky ST198 has been reported in Europe and North America as a consequence of travel to Asia/the Middle East. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the first study reporting the identification of this epidemic clone in India and South Asia.

Photorespiration links carbon metabolism with nitrogen assimilation in C3 plants, but its relationship with nitrogen productivity in perennial turfgrass remains unclear. INTRODUCTION: Appalachian Kentucky is recognized for elevated rates of cervical cancer, which exerts an undue burden in this medically underserved region.
