BACKGROUND: The presence of restless leg syndrome (RLS) in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) is not well established. We studied the frequency and severity of RLS in a population of patients with SCI and the effect of treatment with dopaminergic drugs when clinically indicated.

We report a case of osteonecrosis of the femoral head in a young man who is a carrier of the prothrombin gene mutation. We suggest that an electrical injury to his lower limb may have triggered intravascular thrombosis as a result of this mutation with subsequent osteonecrosis of the femoral head. No case of osteonecrosis of the femoral head secondary to a distant electrical injury has previously been reported.

Shinguards are considered an important measure in preventing lower leg impact abrasions, contusions and fractures. Given these benefits, Fédération Internationale de Football Association introduced the shinguard law in 1990, which made wearing shinguards during matches mandatory. This study examined the effects of strength, aerobic fitness, and activity profile on the incidence of overuse injuries, particularly stress fractures, during military training. A total of 136 military recruits were followed during 9 weeks of basic training.
