In 2024, the US Health and Human Services Secretary noted that a proposed ban on menthol cigarettes (MCs) would take more time given the high volume of public comments submitted.

Our sensory adaptation to cold and chemically induced coolness is mediated by the intrinsic property of TRPM8 channels to desensitize.
