The aim of this paper was to study some epidemiological aspects of the infection by Brucella abortus in risk occupational groups in the microregion of Araguaína, Tocantins. For antibody research, 645 serum samples were analyzed by the complement fixation test (CF). Translation, cultural adaptation, and psychometric evaluation of the NASA-TLX questionnaire among various occupational groups of Persian speakers.

Mental workload is a critical determinant of employee performance, safety, and well-being. The NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) is one of the most widely used instruments for assessing perceived mental workload; however, a validated Persian version for occupational settings has been lacking. This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and evaluate the psychometric properties of the NASA-TLX in a Persian-speaking occupational population. The original NASA-TLX was translated and culturally adapted following established guidelines. Content validity was evaluated using the Content Validity Ind

The impact of emotional labor on mental health: A systematic review and meta-analysis of multi-occupational groups.

Emotional labor is a crucial occupational mental health issue in service-oriented economies, but research showed inconsistent links to mental health outcomes. This meta-analysis synthesized evidence by analyzing 27 observational studies from six databases using a tiered integrative approach. Results showed that high-exhaustion emotional labor (surface acting and emotional dissonance) correlated significantly positively with overall negative mental health outcomes, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, and general mental health (r = 0.213, P < 0.001). Specifically, surface acting correlated

Physical activity for longer working lives: an analysis of physical activity profiles of selected occupational groups in Poland.

BACKGROUND: Extending working lives has become an inevitable objective of public policy in the era of population ageing. It is possible, however, that the duration of working life will depend on individual employability. Out of a wide range of factors affecting employability, in this paper we have analyzed one specific aspect of health status, which is physical activity. METHODS: This paper studies the relationship between physical activity and BMI among representatives of seven occupational groups in Poland using a logit regression. We use a dedicated micro-database of over 5,000 Warsaw inha

Risk of pancreatic cancer and occupational exposures in Spain. PANKRAS II Study Group.

The objective of the study was to analyse the relationship between occupational exposures and risk of pancreatic cancer. Incident cases of pancreatic cancer and hospital controls were prospectively identified and interviewed during the hospital stay. Occupational history was obtained by direct interview with the patient, and was available for 164 (89%) of 185 pancreatic cancer cases, and 238 (90%) of 264 controls. Two industrial hygienists evaluated exposures to 22 suspected carcinogens previously associated with pancreatic cancer. Occupational exposures were also assessed using the Finnish jo

Attitudes towards influenza vaccine and a potential COVID-19 vaccine in Italy and differences across occupational groups, September 2020.

OBJECTIVES: We aimed at describing the attitudes towards influenza vaccination and a potential COVID-19 vaccine in Italy. METHODS: A nationally representative survey based on 1055 Italians aged 15-85 years was conducted in September 16-28, 2020. Mortality risks in Australian men by occupational groups, 1968-1978: variations associated with differences in drinking and smoking habits.

Analysis of patterns of male mortality in Australia during 1968-1978 shows elevated death rates from liver cirrhosis, alcoholism and alcoholic psychosis in various rural, service, and "blue-collar" occupations. The risks of mortality from lung cancer and cancers of the upper alimentary tract and larynx--sites influenced by alcohol and tobacco consumption--are raised in the latter two groups. In contrast, the risks of mortality from cancer of the colon, thought to be influenced by dietary "affluence", are consistently higher for professional and "white-collar" groups. As reported in other popul

Longitudinal Mental Health Effects of the 2016 Terrorist Attack in Berlin on Various Occupational Groups of Emergency Service Personnel.

Emergency service personnel who respond to terrorist attacks may experience persistent stress following the event. This occupational stress must be examined in order to develop occupation-specific response preparation and follow-up measures. An explorative pilot study examined the occupational stress-related effects of the 2016 terrorist attack on Breitscheidplatz in Berlin on emergency service personnel. The present study examines whether the results of the pilot study can be replicated and whether the effects changed after 2 years. The participants were 60 emergency personnel (including 11 p

A cross-sectional study on the understanding and attitudes toward influenza and influenza vaccines among different occupational groups in China.

This study aimed to assess the level of knowledge regarding influenza viruses and vaccines among different professional groups to investigate the reasons for vaccine hesitancy. We collected 2190 questionnaires regarding influenza vaccines in China in 2022. The respondents were categorized into the general population (GP), foreign affairs workforce population (FAWP), and veterinary workforce population (VWP) according to their job positions. Linear regression was used to assess the association between multiple factors and influenza vaccination rates. The association between work and influenza v

Epidemiologic features of Schistosoma japonicum among fishermen and other occupational groups in the Dongting Lake region (Hunan Province) of China.

In this study we examined 1,909 individuals (53% males and 47% females) to determine the current status of Schistosoma japonicum among the people in five fishing villages situated on two islands (large, Qingshan island; small, Niangashan island) in the Dongting Lake region in Hunan Province, the People's Republic of China. The results of this study indicate that the overall prevalence for schistosomiasis on the two islands is 16%. Two distinct peaks in prevalence (29%) were observed at 25-35 years of age and again at 45-55 years of age for both the large and small islands. On the small island

Smoking cessation among transit workers: beliefs and perceptions among an at-risk occupational group.

BACKGROUND: Transit workers, in comparison to the general population, have higher rates of smoking. Although smoking cessation programs are often available through workers' HMOs, these programs are frequently underutilized. Quitting practices, including participation in cessation programs, are often associated with beliefs about smoking behaviors and the ability to quit. We analyzed how transit workers' beliefs about cessation might function as barriers to or facilitators of participating in cessation activities. FINDINGS: We conducted 11 focus group discussions with 71 workers (45% female; 8

[Skin diseases and working disability in the Netherlands. II. Catamnestic study in 3 groups of patients with occupational contact eczema].

A follow-up study was performed of the medical and social condition of 164 patients with an occupational allergic contact dermatitis. A change of work did not always lead to an improvement of the dermatitis. A number of patients improved without changing their job. It is suggested that a change of occupation can only be advised to these patients if the causal allergen can be avoided completely by doing so and only by doing so; at the same time one must reckon with other aetiologic factors and the social situation after change of work. Moreover it is pointed out that patients who changed their

Comparison of group and individual therapy in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy: a systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: This review aimed to determine the effects of (digital) group therapies in comparison to individual therapies within physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. METHODS: Embase, PubMed and Web of Science were searched until May 2025. RoB 2 and GRADE were used to rate the risk of bias and the certainty of the evidence. Mean differences were used to analyze differences between group and individual therapy. RESULTS: Eleven studies were included in this review (eight of physiotherapy, two of speech therapy, and one of occupational therapy). The studies cover various di

Occupation-Related Injuries Among Healthcare Workers: Incidence, Risk Groups, and the Effect of Training.

Background and objective Occupation-related injuries (ORIs) are undesirable and harmful situations among healthcare workers (HCWs) and may have serious consequences. In this study, we aimed to identify and analyze ORI incidences, risk groups, and the outcomes of a training program to prevent them. Materials and methods Between January 2011 and December 2019, HCWs who applied for infection prevention and control (IPC) due to ORIs (percutaneous needlestick and sharp-object injury or contact with blood or body fluids) were included in the study. Their characteristic features, vaccine histories, i
