BACKGROUND: In the patient of the cloacal exstrophy, cloaca with local abdominal wall is disrupted and exposed inner surface of the bladder needs early closure. Pelvic osteotomies are required for severe cases whose bladder cannot be closed by the suture of soft tissue only. Aplasia of the pubic bone associated with congenital hip dislocation is rare. Various dysmorphic conditions featuring absence or hypoplasia of the ischiopubic bone, associated with congenital hip dislocation, have been distinguished in the literature. We report the case of an 18-month-old boy with developmental dysplasia of the hip associated with isolated total aplasia of the pubic bone. Patient was successfully treated with modified Salter osteotomy and reverse U-shaped capsuloplasty.

Bladder herniation associated with pubic symphysis diastasis is a very rare condition. We report a case with bladder herniation after traumatic pubic symphysis disruption. The patient was treated with open reduction of the bladder and definitive internal fixation of the pubis. We used a bone allograft for closure of the diastasis and a prolene mesh graft for supporting the abdominal wall. We obtained a successful outcome during a 12-month follow-up period.

A 39-year-old woman with type 1 genuine stress urinary incontinence was treated using a novel extraperitoneal laparoscopic bladder neck suspension procedure with a bone-anchor suture fixation system. Operative time and blood loss were 2.5 and 50 g, respectively. The patient showed a remarkable improvement on chain cystography and in subjective and objective well-being with no complications, even 12 months after surgery. Extraperitoneal laparoscopic bladder neck suspension using the bone-anchor suture fixation system is an easy and feasible procedure.

This study describes a distinct groove on the caudal and ventral surfaces of the pubic bone termed the "sulcus nervi dorsalis penis/clitoridis" and assesses its usefulness as a character for sex determination of isolated pubic bones. Clear cell carcinoma of the ovary tends to have a poor response to conventional platinum-based chemotherapy. Bone recurrence from ovarian cancer is rare and prognosis of patients with such a condition is poor. We report a patient with chemo-refractory ovarian clear cell carcinoma who developed pubic bone recurrence and subsequent para-aortic node recurrence. The patient achieved long-term survival after salvage surgery twice in spite of these inauspicious conditions. Surgical treatment should be taken into consideration for skeletal recurrence from ovarian clear cell carcinoma.
