PURPOSE: To remedy the lack of a measure that jointly assesses the psychological status and impact of migration stressors among forced migrants, we developed and tested the Screening of Refugees Self-Report (ScoRE-SR) Questionnaire.

We assessed syphilis screening data from overseas medical examinations among U.S.-bound refugees to characterize seropositive syphilis cases and treatment from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2018. During this time period, all refugees 15 years and older were required to undergo syphilis screening prior to resettlement to the United States. In 1945, 423 refugees were admitted because of contagious disease at Malmö Epidemic Hospital. Of these refugees 159 men and 167 women arrived from the German concentration camps in Ravensbrück, Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen, Neuengamme and others. In the Horn of Africa, scurvy is a serious public health problem for refugees who are dependent on standard relief food (cereals, legumes, and oil).
