PURPOSE: To analyze the vascular structure of the liver in patients with a right-sided round ligament.
METHODS: We reviewed 16 patients with a right-sided round ligament and 3 polysplenia and situs inversus patients with a left-sided round ligament who underwent multidetector row CT with contrast media. The patient population consisted of 13 men and 6 women (mean 62 years). We report two cases of endometriosis of the round ligament in a 37 and 26 - years old women, with a lump in their right groin and catamenial pain referred to plastic surgery department. MRI showed in both cases nodular lesion in the right inguinal region. The patological examination of the surgical specimen revealed endometriosis of the round ligament. The presence of a groin mass with pain increasing during the menstrual period must raise the suspicion of inguinal endometriosis and a gynecological evaluation is essential to provide a correct management of this rare condition.

A 14-year-old female patient consulted due to 4 months of recurrent right pelvic pain during her menstrual period. We report a case of endometriosis in the right inguinal region, attached to the right round ligament in a 28-year-old woman. At the age of 20, laparoscopic left ovarian cystectomy and pelvic adhesiolysis for endometriosis was carried out. She noticed a right tender groin mass 7 months previously, and the tumour size fluctuated with the menstrual cycle. A poorly circumscribed elastic hard mass, measuring 3 cm in diameter, was palpated in her right inguinal region. This paper describes the case of an asymptomatic woman who underwent laparoscopy as part of a work-up for infertility. A previous transvaginal ultrasound had shown an echogenic adnexal mass, independent of the ovary. The intraoperative finding was a tumor of the round ligament that was resected and determined to be a mature teratoma. The case is reported due to the unusual location for that type of tumor; and in addition, it is the first description of a teratoma in the round ligament managed by laparoscopy.

OBJECTIVE: Leiomyoma of the round ligament of the uterus is a rare condition. We present the first case of a postmenopausal, previously hysterectomised, woman who received combined hormonal replacement therapy and developed a leiomyoma of the right round ligament.
METHOD: In sections of the tumor, immunohistochemical reaction with monoclonal antibodies against smooth muscle actin, desmin, vimentin, estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor was performed.
