The Ru(dppbsa)-catalyzed reductive amination of ketones with nitroarenes and nitriles using H2 as the environmentally benign hydrogen surrogate is developed in this study. Cross-experiments demonstrated that both reactions are initiated by the reduction of nitroarenes or nitriles to the corresponding amines, followed by condensation with ketones to give imines and thereafter hydrogenation. BACKGROUND: Two major treatment modalities for retinoblastoma, intraarterial chemotherapy (IAC) and intravitreal chemotherapy (IVitC), have superseded external beam radiotherapy for eye salvage. In this new setting our objectives were to evaluate the indications for plaque radiotherapy, complications, and recurrence rates.
METHODS: Retrospective detailed review of patient's charts was performed for all subjects treated with plaque radiotherapy for retinoblastoma between January 2015 and December 2020.

TRPV6 is a calcium-selective ion channel implicated in epithelial Ca2+ uptake. TRPV6 inhibitors are needed for the treatment of a broad range of diseases associated with disturbed calcium homeostasis, including cancers. METHODS: A series of 100 consecutive eyes irradiated in 1981-91 was analysed using the life table method and the Cox proportional hazards model. The median apical and scleral tumour dose was 100 Gy (range 15-200 Gy) and 1000 Gy (range 200-1200 Gy), respectively. Reported herein, for the first time, is the selective ruthenium-catalyzed reductive alkoxylation and amination of phthalimides/succinimides. Notably, this novel methodology avoids hydrogenation of the aromatic ring and allows methoxylation of substituted imides with good to excellent selectivity for one of the carbonyl groups. The reported method opens the door to the development of new processes for the selective synthesis of various functionalized N-heterocyclic compounds. As an example, intramolecular reductive couplings to afford tricyclic compounds are presented for the first time.
