[Optical coherence tomography-guided stent implantation].

UNLABELLED: Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin develops from the spectrum of facultative precancerous conditions, which in the course of malignant transformation through cancer stage in situ without early treatment fully transform into invasive squamous cell carcinoma. According to classical model of carcinogenesis, the transformation of actinic keratosis into squamous cell carcinoma of the skin occurs due to a mutation in one gene, more often a tumor suppressor, and undergoes a stage of development with lack of control of cell cycle. The aim of the research is to supplement current knowledge

Optical coherence tomography in multiple sclerosis.

We do not have currently satisfactory clinical and anatomical correlates to gauge disability in multiple sclerosis. Structural biomarkers (such as MRI) are hindered because they cannot precisely segregate demyelination from axonal elements of tissue injury within the CNS. Axonal degeneration in multiple sclerosis is related to irreversible disability, which suggests that the confirmation of neuroprotective strategies needs highly quantifiable measures of axon loss that can be correlated with reliable measures of physiological function. The coupling of quantifiable measures of visual function w

Optical coherence tomography angiography compared with optical coherence tomography for detection of glaucoma progression with high myopia.

Little is known about the change of macular and peripapillary vessel density comparing to macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (mGCIPL) thickness or peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) thickness in high myopic glaucoma in the longitudinal follow-up. A total of 62 glaucoma patients with high myopia (71 eyes) were analyzed over an average follow-up of 2.88 years, with at least four optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) imaging sessions. Among the participants, 47 eyes exhibited stable visual fields, while 24 eyes showed progression. We compared the longitudinal chang

Clinical Applications of Optical Coherence Tomography and Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in Uveal Melanoma: A Narrative Review.

Uveal melanoma is the most common primary intraocular malignancy in adults, most frequently arising from the choroid, followed by the ciliary body and iris. Its diagnosis and management require precise characterization of tumor morphology, localization, and associated complications to optimize visual and systemic outcomes. Recent advances in optical coherence tomography (OCT), anterior segment OCT (AS-OCT), and OCT angiography (OCTA) have expanded the ophthalmologist's ability to non-invasively visualize structural and vascular changes associated with this disease. In fact, enhanced depth imag

Using optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography angiography to delineate neurovascular homeostasis in migraine: a review.

Migraine is one of the world's most debilitating disorders, and it has recently been shown that changes in the retina can be a potential biomarker for the disease. These changes can be detected by optical coherence tomography (OCT), which measures retinal thickness, and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), which measures vessel density. We searched the databases Google Scholar, ProQuest, Scopus, and Web of Science for studies in English using OCT and OCTA in migraineurs, using the search terms "optical coherence tomography," "OCT," "optical coherence tomography angiography," "OCTA"

Optical coherence tomography in multiple sclerosis.

BACKGROUND: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that damages myelinated fibers within the central nervous system. Data obtained using optical coherence tomography (OCT) have recently been identified as a potential biomarker for this disease. We aimed to measure circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (cpRNFLT) using OCT and to compare the results in healthy participants with those of individuals having clinically definitive MS with and without a history of optic neuritis. METHODS: This cross-sectional study recruited patients with clinically confirmed MS

Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in Diabetes.

The introduction of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) has significantly improved our knowledge on the ocular vascular alterations occurring in diabetes. In this article, we will provide a review of the prominent OCTA findings in diabetes. In details, OCTA demonstrated that both the retinal vessels and the choriocapillaris are affected in diabetic subjects. The recent employment of widefield technology and a 3-dimensional (3D) visualization in OCTA imaging are also discussed.

Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in Glaucoma.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) comprises different OCT-based technologies developed for non-invasive assessment and measurement of optic nerve head and retinal perfusion. Currently the most clinically established approach is based on the split spectrum amplitude decorrelation algorithm, which detects moving red blood cells and eliminates all other information. The two main clinical fields in which OCTA offers clinically useful information are investigation of the macular retina (e.g. in macular degeneration and diabetic macular disease) and glaucoma. For glaucoma, the optic ne

CAN Optical Coherence Tomography redefine amblyopia?

Introduction: For many years, amblyopia was regarded as a disorder of the visual system in which an organic cause could not be identified. Optical Coherence Tomography opens new horizons in understanding the etiopathology of amblyopia and seems to highlight morphologic anomalies in the retina of the amblyopic eye. Purpose: The objective of this paper is to analyze the macular thickness, optic nerve changes, and choroidal thickness found in patients diagnosed with amblyopia based on trials reported in the literature. Material and methods: This study analyzes 30 clinical trials regarding amblyop

Optical Coherence Tomography in Neuro-ophthalmology.

The afferent visual pathway is a functionally eloquent region of the central nervous system (CNS). Key clinical features of inflammatory, ischemic, and compressive CNS lesions can be appreciated through detailed ophthalmic examination. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) provides a noninvasive means of capturing manifestations of axonal and neuronal loss in the CNS. OCT represents a surrogate marker of structural integrity in the CNS, through which mechanisms of neurodegeneration and repair may be better understood. In this article, the role of OCT in facilitating the diagnosis and management o
