The treatment of nail disorders is currently an unsatisfying exercise. Isolated nail involvement generally does not warrant any systemic therapy. At the same time, treatment is requested because of significant cosmetic and functional handicap. Intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (TA) in the proximal nail fold was evaluated as a treatment modality in 30 patients with twenty-nail dystrophy, 14 with nail lichen planus, and 6 with nail psoriasis. Noncompliance is frequent in children and adolescents with nephrotic syndrome. Once suspected, noncompliance is difficult to confirm and often impossible to avoid. The standard oral glucocorticoid treatment for children has been shown to be efficient and safe. In a comparative study, 60 patients of psoriasis vulgaris were subjected to PUVASOL and PUVASOL with trimcinolone acetonide in two different groups of 30 patients each. Patients given photochemotherapy with 8 MOP and local application of trimacinolone acetonide showed marked imorovement (66.6% and 60%) after 4 and 8 weeks of therapy in comparison to 26.6% and 16.6% in the group where no topical corticosteroids were applied. None of the patients showed any adverse reaction to the treatment.

We studied the inhibitory effect of triamcinolone acetonide on experimental intraocular proliferation. Autotransplantation of fibroblasts from rabbit rump skin into the vitreous cavity resulted in intravitreal strand formation and traction retinal detachment in 36 of 43 eyes (84%) over a period of three months.
