Introduction. Diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is suspected in the presence of symptoms and/or pharyngeal alterations and skeletal abnormalities of maxilla and mandible. Squamous papilloma of the oral cavity is frequently seen in adult patients and is typically presented as painless exophytic granular or cauliflower-like lesions over the tongue, floor of the mouth, palate, uvula, lips, and faucial pillars. Most of the lesions are solitary and grow rapidly to about 0.5 cm. Oral squamous papilloma has no known malignant potential, with conservative surgical excision being the treatment of choice. Abscesses can be found in several places in the oral cavity, most commonly occurring in peritonsillar and periodontal regions. In this report, the authors described a uvula abscess in a 1-month-old term newborn who was brought to the pediatric outpatient clinic with the complaints of difficulty in sucking-swallowing and refusal to suck at the breast. To the best of the authors' knowledge this is the first report of a uvula abscess in the literature.

A 13-month-old male presented with a hair wrapped around his uvula. The entwined hair subsequently caused autoamputation of the distal uvula. Although a non-accidental etiology has been suggested for some cases of hair strangulation of appendages, this case indicates accidental strangulation of body parts is possible.

The occurrence of retrogradely labeled cells in the pontine nuclei was mapped following injections of 0.3-0.4 microliter of a horseradish peroxidase suspension (50% weight/volume) into the uvula (lob.
