This reports an arm edema that was initially treated as cellulitis and later diagnosed to be subclavian thrombosis due to pacemaker wire irritation. We present an 87-year-old Caucasian man with 5 weeks duration of left arm swelling and pain that was treated with two courses of antibiotics. The reverse lateral arm adipofascial flap covered immediately with a skin graft has been used successfully for reconstruction of a cubital fossa defect (caused by avulsion injury) and an exposed olecranon (resulting from recurrent bursitis) in 2 patients. Seven children (3-10 years of age) were treated for a type III supracondylar fracture of the humerus. All fractures were reduced and pinned. Closed reduction was performed in four patients; three required open reduction. Before reduction six of the seven patients did not have a distal palpable pulse in the involved forearm. Nodular foreign-body granulomatous reactions have been reported in these cases. We describe the case of a 4-month-old girl with interstitial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 2(46,XX,del(2) (q31q33]. Clinical features included intrauterine growth retardation, psychomotor delay, antimongoloid slanting of the palpebral fissures, hypertelorism, low set ears, cleft palate, micrognathia, luxatio coxae and pes varus. It is suggested that the gene for soluble isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH1) is located on 2q33.3. The activity of serum IDH1 was in the normal range in this patient.

Two new European Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) cases are reported. Their karyotypic abnormalities were unusual, without involvement of chromosomes #8, #14, #2, or #22. However, in both tumors, a 6q- chromosome was, present. These findings raise questions about the definition of BL and the involvement of various different DNA sequences in the mechanisms of BL genesis.

A woman presented with severe weakness and wasting involving only one arm. A definite diagnosis was not made until almost six years later when she developed proximal weakness in the legs as well, and a muscle biopsy showed changes of polymyositis. Asymmetry of weakness in polymyositis has been noted previously in the literature, but is rare. In previous reports asymmetry as marked as in the present case has not been noted.
