OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine and discuss the prevalence of non-adult scurvy cases from the early medieval Jaun/Podjuna Valley in southern Austria.
MATERIALS: 86 non-adult individuals were assessed from three early medieval sites.

BACKGROUND: Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) is an emerging sexually transmitted infection, often harboring resistance-associated mutations to azithromycin (AZM). Global surveillance has been mandated to tackle the burden caused by MG, yet no data are available for Austria. Thus, we aimed to investigate the prevalence of MG, disease characteristics, and treatment outcomes at the largest Austrian HIV-and STI clinic.

A serosurvey for Tahyna virus (TAHV), a mosquito-borne California encephalitis orthobunyavirus (Peribunyaviridae) endemic to Europe, was performed to estimate the activity of TAHV on a broad geographic scale. However, due to various barriers, including lack of knowledge, accessibility issues, and time constraints their routine use remains inconsistent. In the prehistoric salt mines of Hallstatt, located in the Austrian Alps, human faeces have been conserved in salt. Retinoblastoma and other eye tumors in childhood are rare diseases. Many eye tumors are the first signs of a genetic tumor predisposition syndrome and the affected children carry a higher risk of developing other cancers later in life. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of β-lactamase producing or fluoroquinolone-resistant members of the family Enterobacteriaceae in European mouflons (Ovis orientalis musimon). The mouflon samples originated from nasal and perineal swabs and/or organ samples in cases of a suspected infection.
