PURPOSE: To correlate the clinical types of aqueous seeds with histopathologic characteristics in primarily enucleated eyes with retinoblastoma (RB).
DESIGN: Retrospective study.
PARTICIPANTS: Twenty-five patients with RB.
METHODS: Clinicopathologic correlation of aqueous seeds in 25 eyes that underwent primary enucleation and showed evidence of aqueous seeds.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Histopathologic characteristics of aqueous seeds.

Choroidal metastasis from primaries other than breast or lung cancer is a rare event. There is no documented case in the literature of choroidal metastases in patients with hypopharynx carcinoma. Early treatment with radiation therapy provides effective palliation by preserving visual function and preventing the need for enucleation. Chemotherapy alone does not seem to be as effective as radiation therapy for patients with choroidal metastases. In this paper a case of choroidal metastasis arising from a primary hypopharynx carcinoma is presented.

A follow-up study and histologic reevaluation were made of 105 melanomas of the choroid and ciliary body that had originally been classified as Callender's spindle A type. PURPOSE: To evaluate the utility of ultrasound examination in detection of extraocular extension of uveal melanoma.
METHODS: A retrospective study of 170 enucleated eyes with ciliary body or/and choroidal melanoma and deep intrascleral tumor invasion with extrascleral extension.
RESULTS: The extrascleral extension was detectable before enucleation in 31 eyes (18.24%), and tumor sizes varied from 1.5 to 15 mm.
